Why I thought it was better to broadcast and 'brand' myself
Having continued to broadcast my own writing every day,
one of the benefits I feel is that
by visualizing my 'thoughts',
'I am able to touch
my own thoughts'
that is what it is.
It is also a precious
'time for self-dialogue'.
Without even realizing it,
'I am canceling out opinions different from my own
and overriding them with my own opinion'
I often notice things
like that.
It is fine for there to be
various opinions,
there is no right or wrong answer,
and it has become a good opportunity
to correct my own thinking
along with correcting my writing.
Also,'filtering effect'
When you lay your thoughts bare,
your connections with people
who think like you
keep getting stronger.
Conversely, a little distance
starts to grow with those who don't.
To put it another way,
it is the simultaneous process of
'being liked' and 'being disliked' (lol)
Isn't it amazing that just by
continuing to broadcast your own writing,
you can deepen connections
with people who think
the same way you do?
People I thought were very close
are actually very far away
from the perspective of fundamental thinking,
and I notice that people I don't meet at all,
or people I had become estranged from,
actually have the exact same
roots of thought.
That is truly interesting.
Also, the 'accumulation effect'
from broadcasting daily
exerts tremendous power.
The 'articles' continue to convey
my feelings and thoughts
24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
I have had countless experiences where articles I wrote years ago
have expanded my connections
and saved me.
There are too many to count.
By having people engage with my articles
every day,
it also leads to them
feeling a sense of familiarity with me.
Nowadays, whether I'm drinking at a bar,
happen to be sitting next to someone,
or meeting a friend I haven't seen in a while,
"I read your blog"
"I'm reading your Facebook"
is what people have started
saying to me.
I was truly surprised when someone
called out to me at a convenience store (lol).
Because they read my articles,
they know me so well
that it's almost embarrassing.
When someone I'm meeting for the first time
"Your daughter wants to become
a politician, right?"
says that to me, it gives me a start (lol).
Psychologically speaking,
this effect is proven
as the 'Zajonc effect'.
It was proposed in 1968
by American psychologist
Robert Zajonc.
It is also called the 'mere exposure effect'.
The more people are exposed to someone,
the more they feel a sense of familiarity with that person.
Conversely, if someone thinks,
'I don't like this person',
it is said that the more the number of contacts increases,
the stronger the negative impression becomes.
The Zajonc effect
can also have the opposite effect.
Therefore, I am currently
actively doing both simultaneously.
Even if we haven't met in person,
or even if we have never met,
through my posts, people can
develop a sense of familiarity with me.
From a business perspective,
there is data showing that
potential customers who learn about a product
through word-of-mouth that occurred naturally
are overwhelmingly more likely to make a purchase
than those who learn about it through advertisements.
Broadcasting is basically free,
so it is overwhelmingly more effective
than spending huge amounts on advertising.
We are now in an era where 100 million people are all media.
Everyone is a creator of information
and also a broadcaster.
How much you can get featured
in that 'personal media'
will likely be a major key
moving forward, don't you think?
'Who are you?'
I feel that people have stopped paying attention
to information from people who ask that.
Spending money on brand-name goods
is certainly an option, but
I think the necessity of spending money and time
to become a brand yourself
is increasing more and more.
It seems we are no longer in an era
where you can just spend money on ads and get by.
However, you cannot become that way
in just a day or two.
There is no way other than to build it up steadily.
There seem to be no shortcuts.
It is important to brand the products and services you handle,
but I think you also need the sense
of 'branding' yourself.
You never know when you might be in a situation
where you have to change jobs.
We live in an era where
even the genre of your work
could disappear entirely.
However, if you have 'branded' yourself,
no matter what job or business you start,
it won't be a start from zero.
Starting from a state of
having many fans.
There was a young person who was
sharing their opinions on social media every single day.
One day, they had a falling out with their company
and had to resign with regret.
On that day, feeling deeply depressed,
they posted something casually on social media.
'A lot has happened, and I've left my company.'
At the same time, they were
flooded with job offers.
Without even realizing it,
among a certain group of people,
they had been
'branded,' hadn't they?
My greatest joy right now is
that the line between clients
and friends has become
blurred (laughs).
Time spent with people with whom I feel
absolutely no misalignment in thinking
is truly meaningful time.
The 'meeting time' with such people
is a 'happy time.'
It is also time that
helps me grow.
Looking back at my current situation,
the reason is almost entirely due to my sharing content.
Daily sharing
seems to be part of
creating my ideal environment.
