[Welcome OPA] Fishing Trip Log: Nylon Leader x SWEY 1.7g is a Perfect Match
Good evening, everyone🐶
Lately, the temperature difference has been extreme,
so we need to be careful about managing our health
💦
However, it definitely feels like the season
is getting closer to spring
🌸
This fishing trip was on
Sunday, February 15, 2026
I visited
[Welcome OPA]located in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture
🎣✨
Since it was my first time at OPA,
I was looking forward to it from the day before✨
Man, honestly,
I really love this fishing spot🐶
What was so good about it?
● Close to the interchange
● The surrounding country roads are so soothing
● The area and surrounding scenery are also great
● The manager and instructor are kind and have wonderful personalities
● It has stain water that is nearly muddy, which I love
● The other customers all have a gentle vibe
Everything was truly great🐶
"What kind of fishing will it be today?"
As stated on their website,
OPA's business hours
start at 9:00 AM.
I had some time before the start, so
I walked around the pond twice to check it out.
Luckily, a spot near the stocking area was open,
so I was able to get in there.✨
And then, the signal to start!❕
My starting lure was the SWEY 1.7g.
For the color, I selected a custom-painted
silver-white UV type.
After searching through everything, the response
near the bottom was good, and I caught several in a row.🎣✨
After that, I continued to catch them by rotating
the colors of the SWEY 1.7g.✨
It's... it's so fun.🐶💦💦
And I'm catching so many.🐶💦💦
Perhaps because I'm usually dealing with
the tricky fish in the clear waters of Northern Kanto,
I felt that
the fish at OPA were very straightforward.💦

However, that doesn't mean any spoon would work,
● Don't reduce the silhouette too much
● Keep the range near the bottom while retrieving
● Colors with UV and metallic elements get a good response
These keywords were very
important.🐶
And then, just as the reaction to the Sway started to
fade, the stocking began✨✨
The first spoon I chose was
Dohna 2g✨
It's catching like crazy💦
However, the stocked fish dropped to near the bottom
from the start, and the speed was faster than I expected
I was getting a lot of bites where the fish
were just playing with the spoon, so
I changed to an Exceed 2.4g with a Honeycomb hook size 5
setting🎣✨
And then, a furious streak of catches began‼️
[How to fish the first wave of stocking]
I dropped the Exceed 2.4g to the bottom
while occasionally giving it some
action,
and by reeling at a constant speed with the image
of not letting it rise too much, a storm of good bites
pulled the tip in✨

W-wow... this is catching so many💦💦
It was a proper stocking for the first time in a while,
and my head was filled with
so-called pure adrenaline💦💦
To keep the fish from getting bored,
I adjusted the speed and rod angle
while
fishing🎣
I didn't time it accurately,
but it felt like they kept biting
for quite a long time🐶✨
【Stocking Second/Third】
At the timing when the reaction to the Exceed 2.4g
began to fade
the spoon I introduced was the SWEY 1.7g✨
The hook is the Vanfook SP-21F #6, which boasts
the best trust and track record for me🪝
The SWEY is a spoon that has already demonstrated
unfathomable potential
at other fields as well.
I cast it with the conviction that it would
almost certainly be a perfect match🎣
The SWEY 1.7g's
●Self-painted platinum-based color
●SHOW
connected and exploded, and what was a huge hit
as a third-round color was
●Self-painted Matchy Lagoon
🐶✨
(This trip included testing my own paint jobs, but I think the stock SWEY colors would have been plenty effective as well.)
As time passed since the stocking,
the range and speed became more critical,
but
the fishing method that was particularly effective was using the SWEY 1.7g with a
nylon leader,
●After casting, take up the slack line
●Drop the spoon near the bottom
●Retrieve slowly without flipping
(At this time, imagine the spoon dragging along the bottom and hiding in the dust cloud once)
●Keep the rod angle roughly parallel
●Then retrieve at a speed where the spoon swims
(Do not let it rise too much from the bottom)
↓
When retrieving with this image in mind
↓
●There are fish that follow for a long distance and eat it
●There are fish that eat it when it reaches the slope
I realized there were these two types of fish
and successfully adjusted✨
The line setting at this time was
RC Ester 0.35lb with a 3.3lb nylon leader
The reason I used a nylon leader is,
to make the spoon swim in a more upright position,
and to make the spoon look like a
point
to the fish to entice them to bite.
By making the spoon look like a 'point',
fish that wouldn't bite before
seem to be willing to bite,
but
as a result, this fishing method was a huge hit
🐶✨
The nylon leader I used this time is below↓↓

After that, I was able to keep catching fish
by rotating the colors of the SWEY🎣
I also succeeded in catching fish for a while
using the same pattern for the second release🎣

This is crazy💦💦
OPA, you really catch so many fish🐶💦
After that, when the SWEY bite slowed down,
what worked well was
Drift Spin 1.3g✨
The color was a brown-based one
with a custom-painted gimmick 🌈
This spoon is truly a trump card
lure for area trout.
I've used it quite a lot, so
it's becoming one of my weapons 🎣
The specific way to fish with the Drift Spin is below
It's written in this note,
so if you're interested, please take a read 🐶
I used the range sense I got from the stocked fish to deploy the Drift Spin
1.3g.
Instead of trying to get a bite on the first cast, I made a few casts with the image of
cultivating the hit range,
and then...
I succeeded in catching them in succession 🎣✨
Drift Spin is available in various
weight ranges (sizes),
but
on this day, the "1.3g" had the
best response 🎣

The fun time passed in the blink of an eye
Evening pellet time🐟❕

There are really so many fish here💦💦
And the lure that really caught fire from here was...
GJ50 Iwachakin🎣❗️
I brought the fish in with a silver-colored GJ, then switched to the Iwachakin.
I jerked it with the image of gathering fish from the offshore area to the near break and mixing them with the cruising fish,
and finally, by using the near break and letting it float for a longer time...
It was a perfect match💦💦

After that, minnow fishing was so much fun that I kept using the GJ until the very end,
and then stopped fishing🎣
I didn't count the numbers, but
it was a catch that was close to or
exceeded triple digits for the first time in a while🎣

Man, it really was a
fun fishing spot✨✨
Even if it's a bit far,
it's worth coming.
OPA has super skilled
instructors
there
and they were kindly talking to
beginners,
so I think it's the perfect place for those who have
just started area trout fishing or want to improve even more✨
Also, it's a fishing spot that I can
highly recommend to those who love spoon retrieving fishing✨
Anyway, it was suuuper
fun~🐶
I will definitely go again🎣✨

Fin.
