10 Questions to Turn a 'Day Where I Couldn't Do Anything' into a 'Pretty Good Day'
Hello. I'm Iori Sakurakoji.
I'm the type of person whose physical condition fluctuates, and when it's bad, I sometimes get depressed, thinking, 'I couldn't do anything today...'
I've always thought it would be nice to have something that could make me think, 'No, that's not true!', and since I came up with a pretty good idea, I'm writing this article.
Here are 10 questions that, when answered on a 'day where I couldn't do anything,' might make you think, 'Well, today was actually a pretty good day in its own way.'
Although this is a list of questions for myself, I would be happy if you could use them if you find them helpful. (Please note that some of them are a bit like 'requests'.)
List of Questions
🌸 You don't have to answer all the questions here properly. It's okay to stop halfway through or skip questions you can't (or don't want to) answer.
1. What color is your mood right now?
2. Were you able to do 'what you wanted to do' today? If so, give specific examples.
3. What did you eat today? (Roughly is fine.)
4. What was the most delicious thing you ate, or what would you like to eat again? (If there isn't anything, what would you like to eat tomorrow or later?)
5. What music did you listen to? (If you didn't listen to any, what song do you want to listen to right now?)
6. Please list three things you 'were able to do' today, no matter how small.
7. Please list three 'good things' that happened today, even if you have to force yourself to think of them.
8. What do you 'want to do' tomorrow? 'Things you have to do' are forbidden.
9. Say one positive word to your tomorrow-self.
10. Please name just one song you want your tomorrow-self to listen to.
🌸 That's the end of the questions. Thank you for your hard work.
🌸 Just being alive today is a perfect score!
I tried answering them (here are my answers from one day)
1. What color is your mood right now?
Pale lavender.
2. Did you do 'what you wanted to do' today? If so, give specific examples.
I read more of Ryo Asai's 'Shinigai o Motomete Ikiteiru no'. It's such a moving work that I'm curious about what happens next, but I don't want to finish it.
3. What did you eat today? (Roughly is fine)
A traditional Japanese breakfast and ramen. A cafe latte.
4. What was the most delicious thing among them, or what would you like to eat again? (If none, what would you like to eat tomorrow or later?)
Probably the ramen. I like Maruchan Seimen's salt flavor with extra pepper.
5. What music did you listen to? (If you didn't listen to any, what song would you like to listen to now?)
Kaf's 'Fukakakai'
Kohana Lam's cover of 'Kokoronashi'
SixTONES songs on shuffle.
And various others.
6. Please list three things you 'accomplished' today, no matter how small.
I was able to read a book.
I was able to post on note. (Continuing my daily posting streak)
I was able to submit a tanka poem.
7. Please list three 'good things' that happened today, even if you have to force yourself to think of them.
The ramen was delicious.
Ryo Asai's 'Shinigai o Motomete Ikiteiru no' was a wonderful book.
I took out my electric heated cushion and felt warm and happy.
8. What do you 'want to do' tomorrow? 'Things you have to do' are forbidden.
Reading.
Polishing a novel to submit to a public contest.
Playing a bit of the Ensemble Stars event.
9. Give one positive word to your tomorrow-self.
For now, you're alive, so you're doing great.
Just do your best in your own way.
10. Please name just one song you want your tomorrow-self to listen to.
YOASOBI's 'Sukida'
Afterword
The phrase 'Just being alive is a gold star' is something I borrowed from a book I read previously titled 'My Body Isn't Enough to Live 13 People's Lives.'
It is a precious phrase that I recall from time to time.
Since I have tailored this to my own hobbies and preferences, I thought it might be good to arrange it, for example, by changing the 'music' section to 'books,' 'novels,' or 'YouTube videos.'
I tend to get sick when it gets cold, so I want to use these questions during those times to increase the number of 'pretty good days' even just a little bit.
It might also be good for days when you are struggling for ideas for your note posts. I would be happy if you could make use of them.
The header image I borrowed this time is an illustration of a field mouse that found an acorn. It's cute. It was an instant decision.
