The World's Simplest Way to Create 'Good Posture'

What is good posture? It is something many people think they know, but in reality, it remains vague.

Straighten your back, puff out your chest, tuck in your chin. You often see such instructions, but trying to do them all at once creates strain somewhere. As a result, despite the effort, it becomes a posture that is not comfortable and cannot be maintained for long.

So, is there a simpler way to explain it?

Yes.

That is the concept I propose called 'Vertical Maximization of the Median Axis'.

What you do is extremely simple. Imagine a single axis in the center of your body. That axis runs straight from the perineum, which is the base of the trunk, to the center of the top of your head. Then, stand that axis vertically relative to the ground. Furthermore, stretch that axis upwards and downwards.

That is all you need to do.

There is no need to try to straighten your back. There is no need to puff out your chest. There is no need to try to tuck in your chin. All of those things will happen naturally as a result of this axis being correctly aligned.

Why does this alone fix your posture?

The human body is designed to balance within gravity. Even just standing, minute adjustments are repeated unconsciously. Those adjustments are made based on where the body's axis is located.

If this axis is tilted, extra muscles work to support it. Conversely, if the axis is aligned with the direction of gravity, you can stand with minimal effort.

In other words, good posture is not something you create through effort, but simply something you return to by aligning with gravity.

What is even more important is the sensation of 'maximization'. Just making it straight is not enough; by stretching upwards and downwards, the unnecessary compression inside the body is released. A slight space is created between each vertebra, breathing becomes deeper, and tension throughout the body naturally dissolves.

This is not pulling up with force. It is actually the opposite; it is a state of natural extension as a result of releasing unnecessary tension.

When you adopt this posture, strange things happen. You become less tired even when standing. You start moving faster. The time it takes to respond to something shortens. This is not because your muscle strength has increased, but because unnecessary resistance has decreased.

Many people perceive posture as a 'form'. However, the essence is not the form. It is the relationship between gravity and the body, and how you handle the axis at its center.

Stand the median axis vertically and maximize it.

With just this one awareness, your posture will align and your movements will change.

You don't need anything difficult. In fact, it is more important not to do unnecessary things.

Good posture is not something you build; it is returning to your original state.
