#73 | So glad I hired a pro! The thrill of seeing the 'face' of my business take shape
Hello, this is Shin.
The creation of my website is progressing steadily.
Watching the design take shape one step at a time has been a constant source of excitement. The 'image of my business' that existed only in my head is becoming a visible 'face'.
It’s so thrilling that it’s fueling the fire in my heart even more!
Back when I thought about doing it myself
Actually, at first, I thought about making it myself. Nowadays, there’s AI and plenty of tools for websites, so you can build one with just a little bit of knowledge.
So, I thought it didn't have to be anything fancy, as long as it could convey the bare minimum of what I wanted to do.
Various timings aligned, and after much deliberation, I decided to ask a professional! And the person I asked is Yumiko Yokoyama from Cyber Cats Inc., a friend from my high school days (see #68). I feel like there’s a sense of destiny in this connection from an unexpected encounter.
The thrill of seeing it take shape right before my eyes
And now, that very website is taking shape right before my eyes. My business was something that existed only in a business plan made of numbers and text. Even then, I had a sense of the business taking shape, but this is a different, unexpected feeling. I just can't stop being excited by the sensation of my business rising up as a visual entity!
While communicating via Zoom, we make corrections and receive suggestions on the spot. It’s clear that Ms. Yokoyama isn't just 'someone who makes websites,' but someone who is involved as 'someone who thinks about the business together with me.' A business partner. This is, quite frankly, 'consulting'.
Listening to my thoughts and giving them form
During our meetings, when I talk about this and that regarding the business,
'I see, I see, then this structure could also work,'
'If we do this on this page, wouldn't your thoughts come across better?'
She keeps giving me suggestions like that.
And when I reply, 'Actually, I also have this idea in mind...',
She says, 'I see, in that case, let's do the design like this.'
It feels like she is organizing and visualizing the inside of my head along with me. The vague image is gradually gaining clear contours.
This is similar to when I do consulting with my business partners; that feeling where 'talking' about my thoughts makes my own thinking clearer. What you call a 'sounding board'.
But this time, it is appearing before my eyes as 'design'.
The power of it... as expected of a pro. Truly the way of a professional.
'Anyone can do it' is different from 'infusing it with soul'
We live in an era where anyone can make a website. However, whether you can properly 'infuse your own thoughts' into it is another matter. I am realizing that it is, after all, the pros who can do that.
It’s not just design; she thinks about the business with me, understands my vision, and gives it form. I believe I am paying for that, and I truly feel the value of it.

Through this production process, I have gained another ally who will walk alongside my business.
