[App Creation] What I want to do using MCP: I want to try making an 'app where you can have fun talking with Generative AI' [Reading]
Today, I am reading the 'Easy Introduction to MCP' that I bought the other day because I wanted to learn about a technology called 'MCP'.
*The book in the header image has absolutely nothing to do with 'Easy Introduction to MCP'.
Leaving the detailed explanations to specialized books,
to explain MCP roughly...
It stands for 'Model Context Protocol,' and it is like a 'secret rule' or 'common language' to make the generative AI everyone is talking about (like ChatGPT or Gemini) and internet apps (like websites) work together more effectively.
If you are curious, let's read 'Easy Introduction to MCP' together.
I'm still in the middle of reading it, but it's easy to understand and interesting!

This is an interesting technology; it is a technology that allows generative AI to do things other than 'generating (text or images).' And while reading this book, I thought about whether I could do something interesting, and I had a flash of inspiration.
For example, when talking to generative AI,
have you ever thought things like
'I don't like this inorganic feeling' or
'I want it to talk in a more fun way'?
But even if you think that, you don't know what to do,
or you've heard you can give it a personality but don't really understand how,
aren't there those kinds of worries?
So, I thought it might be interesting to make an 'app where even people who don't know much about those settings can easily set their favorite personality and have it talk in their preferred way.'
For example, here is the kind of app I thought of
The concept isGiving the generative AI a character so you can have fun talking to it
Specifically, on the website
You can edit the generative AI's character setting file
The edited results will be reflected from the next conversation
You can save the generative AI's character setting file
You can have a conversation based on the generative AI's character settings
Like that, simply put,'Create your favorite personality, and talk via chat based on that personality'
is the image.
However, if I were to operate it, I have some worries...
Worry 1: Data leakage
Since the personality you created yourself is saved on the web,
if by any chance the data leaks, my precious character
might be used by other people, which would be very sad.
If it were me, I think I would be extremely angry, so I have to stake my life on security measures, but since I'm not very knowledgeable about security yet, it's scary.
Worry 2: Generative AI API usage costs
For example, when using ChatGPT by inserting external processing like this, the contract holder is charged a usage fee for every single chat.
In other words, every time a user says something in the chat, a bill comes to me.
If there is a user who talks a huge amount, I might go bankrupt from Generative AI costs; that's scary.
Ultimately, a subscription model might be an option, but since I can't charge money during the testing phase, I want to manage by trying to use cheaper models.
In conclusion
It is still in the conceptual stage, but
after consulting with Gemini, it seems feasible.
For now, after I finish reading the book, I will consult with my own technical skills,
if it looks like I can polish it up, I will, and if it looks like I can build it, I will try.
That's how I'm thinking about it. First, starting from gaining knowledge...!
There are tons of concerns, and my skills are currently insufficient, so
I can't release it right away, but I will study and work hard from here on, and I would be happy if I could create something that helps people who want to talk to Generative AI, even if it takes a different form.
For the time being, I want to try running MCP itself, so
I might try making something in a minimal way.
That's how it is for today; I've just laid out what I was thinking.
Thank you very much for reading this far.
I would like to write another article once I have actually run MCP,
so I would be happy if you could read it again if you'd like.
See you later!
