Countdown Pulse ①
"They say the number of heartbeats a person has in a lifetime is fixed. Roughly speaking, if you spend your life excited and thrilled, you'll have a short life, and if you spend it relaxed and lazy, you'll live a long one. I'm the thrill-seeking type, though."
My husband's book, "The Exciting Way to a Long Life," became a bestseller. Then, perhaps jumping on the bandwagon,
"Just by wearing this countdown device, you can perfectly know your remaining heartbeats!" Suspicious products were released and filled the newspaper advertisement columns. When I bought one to try, it was a stifling down jacket. When I put it on, I felt palpitations, and numbers appeared in the sweat. When I had my husband wear the extra one that came as a bonus, unfortunately, it showed a massive number. And what's more, the numbers were slowly increasing, weren't they?
"It's a scam after all." Then he said, "I see, I just need to wear it inside out."
Walking through town, everyone is wearing down jackets. The numbers are increasing. On the left side, there is a minus sign.
"It hit zero once, and then the negative count started, didn't it?" An overturned hourglass. Everyone except me had become a zombie.
