Why 50-something employees who want to start a business hesitate
Hello,
I'm Ryota Nakamura.
Let me tell you a story from the past.
Before I knew it,
my life as a salaryman had spanned 30 years,
and every day flowed with the same rhythm.
I'd go to the office in the morning,
get through meetings,
be chased by numbers and deadlines,
and before I knew it, it was night.
I worked for my family.
I think I certainly spent enough time
and effort to say that.
And yet,
once I hit my 50s,
a feeling I couldn't quite put into words
began to linger deep in my chest.
"Is this really okay..."
When I was young,
I was just focused on looking ahead.
Get promoted,
raise my salary,
give my family peace of mind.
To do that,
I went to drinking parties my boss invited me to,
and even showed my face at golf outings I had no interest in.
Because I thought
not saying no
was what made a capable salaryman.
Before I knew it,
my own time
had almost entirely become the company's.
At home,
I often came home after the kids were asleep,
and our conversations were kept to the bare minimum.
"I'm tired, let's do it another time."
I don't know
how many times I said those words.
In reality,
I was supposed to be working hard for my family.
Before I knew it,
a quiet distance
had grown between me and my family.
Even so,
I convinced myself
by saying, "I'm supporting my family."
I'm valued at the company.
My salary isn't bad by society's standards.
And yet,
somewhere in my heart,
I was always restless.
One day,
the term 'mandatory retirement from management'
suddenly became a reality.
My salary would go down.
My position would change.
At that moment,
a thought suddenly crossed my mind.
If I leave the company, what will be left for me?
I couldn't come up with an answer right away.
Changing jobs seems difficult.
Starting a business feels like a world for young people.
If I open the internet,
phrases like 'anyone can earn money easily' are lined up, but
none of them seem to
fit my life at all.
And so,
without being able to choose anything,
only time passed by.
Looking back,
perhaps we have lived our whole lives
in a 'world where you don't have to decide for yourself'.
The boss makes the decisions.
The company takes the responsibility.
Reading the room is the right answer.
In exchange,
the opportunities to think about
what I truly wanted
kept decreasing.
That's why,
when I reached my 50s
and suddenly stopped in my tracks,
even if I try to move forward,
I don't know
where I should be heading.
It is not because
you are weak,
nor because you did not try hard enough.
I think it is just that
you have been living by 'entrusting' your life to others
for a long time.
Change your perspective.
From here on out,
you don't have to live for someone else's approval;
you can spend your time as your own life.
You don't have to change anything suddenly.
There is no need to quit your job either.
Just
take back the steering wheel of your life
a little bit.
Right now,
whose judgment are you using
to move forward in your life?

▪️I have opened up
free individual session slots for December to work together on "doing it because you can't." 🏬
I am accepting only 5 people per month.
https://x.gd/fBErc
In this session,
we will take a step back and look at
what kind of "story" you are living right now.
Then,
we will look at how to rebuild your future.
Instead of relying on intuition,
we will organize it into a realistic path.
If you have decided somewhere in your heart that
"2026 will not be the same as before,"
I believe this time will be useful for you.
When you think about it alone,
your thoughts tend to be pulled back
to the familiar stories of the past.
However, through dialogue,
the habits of thought and the core values you hold dear,
which you may not have noticed yourself,
will gradually be put into words.
Redesigning the second half of your life
according to your own plan.
Why don't we create the time for that
together?
