Daily Rhythm and Writing on note
An overseas business trip was suddenly decided at the end of last month, preparations began at a rapid pace, and after finishing the hectic trip, I fell ill, which brings me to today.
During this time, I have completely lost my pace of life, have been unable to maintain my routines, and have been missing things I need to do.
Experiencing this kind of extraordinary hustle and bustle makes me realize that I usually live my life while maintaining a steady rhythm.
Of course, I haven't been living my daily life without any deviations at all, and irregular things do come up, but as long as they are within a certain range, irregular events can be absorbed into my daily life.
However, it means that I cannot handle irregular events that are significant enough to disrupt my life.
It has been almost 43 months since I started note. That is exactly three years and seven months.
Being diligent, I have recorded all the titles of the articles I have written so far in an Excel file. Looking at this writing list, the periods when my life was in disarray are clearly visible.
Since I started note to write articles related to Fujiko F., the titles are lined with articles about Fujiko's works, but when my life pace collapses, titles that have nothing to do with them start to catch my eye.
The disruption in my life pace reduces the proportion of main content articles and, in turn, increases the number of transient, skippable articles.
The reason I started note was that COVID-19 was spreading, and drinking parties and the like were completely banned. With my evening time freed up, I decided to try writing when I thought about wanting to fill that time with something else.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, there were more cases of working remotely, and my life patterns became standardized, and during this time, I was able to proceed with writing on note without difficulty.
Commuting time was also shortened, making it possible to secure time for writing articles.
However, around the beginning of last year (2023), COVID-19 became vague in the world, and my previous daily life was restored. Then, my life rhythm began to collapse frequently.
Although I was able to create a rhythm of life during the COVID-19 pandemic, that rhythm collapsed when COVID-19 ended. It is a very ironic story, but conversely, it means that in a "normal daily life," one's life rhythm tends to be disrupted.
Last autumn, I experienced the biggest event in my work history. And this June, I went on my first overseas business trip since the COVID-19 pandemic. I fell ill due to unfamiliar work, and my life pace was greatly disrupted, but I think this might be what "daily life" is.
And in a "daily life" where irregularities are constant, writing on note is the first thing to be affected.
To finish writing an article, I have to do research, develop a concept, and actually write the text. That requires securing a certain amount of uninterrupted time.
Finding the time for this, while balancing a daily life that includes irregularities, is quite difficult to reconcile.
However, the option of stopping my note writing is not on my mind for now, nor am I considering an interruption.
I have received favorable feedback, and above all, I can finish writing almost everything I want to write in just a little more time. The end is in sight.
My life will likely continue to be quite chaotic, but I want to keep securing time even amidst that. I must see through what I have started to the very end. With that stubborn determination hidden in my heart, I intend to live through my chaotic daily life.
