From “Reading” to “Listening” to note—Experience the “Listening” note I started with NotebookLM
Introduction—Did you know you can “listen” to note?
note is a service based on the premise of reading, right?
However, when you're busy or on the move, I think there are many times when you just can't find the time to read.
I'm the same way, and I often forget about articles I thought I'd “read later.”
At that time, I found a video on YouTube introducing a tool called NotebookLM.
If you feed it an article, it summarizes it and plays it back as audio.
The moment I saw this, I thought, “Wouldn't it be interesting to use this for note?💡”.
If you don't have time to read, it would be nice to be able to listen
There are many great articles on note, but
“I want to read it, but I can't right now” is a situation that happens quite often.
Especially with longer articles, the hurdle to start reading is surprisingly high.
So, what if it came in through your ears instead of your eyes?
When I learned about NotebookLM, it clicked for me.
Here's how to use NotebookLM
I actually tried it out, and the operation was very simple.
1. Log in to NotebookLM with your Google account
2. Select Create New
3. Copy and paste the body of the note article (loading via URL is also okay)
4. After selecting the “Studio” tab in the bottom menu, press the generate button in the center
That's it!
It's not just a reading aloud, but a narration that sounds like an introduction, so it's natural to listen to.
If there's one thing to be careful about, it's that you can only generate it 3 times a day on the free plan, so just keep that in mind.

Starting the “Listening” note series
Immediately after trying it, I thought, “I don't want to end this after just one time.”
The format of note should be more selectable and playful. It's fine to have a form of “listening” in addition to “reading”.
That's why I decided to develop a series called ““Listening” note”.
• Post the audio version as a separate article from the main note. Links are also placed in the main text.
• Considering a standard summary of around 6 minutes + a shortened version of 1-3 minutes
• It's good to read after listening, and it's also fine to listen first to get interested
• I plan to compile the audio versions into a magazine.
I want people who write notes to try it because it's fun.
Having an article you wrote yourself turn into audio and play is more moving than you'd think.
It's not just reading aloud, it feels like someone is introducing it, saying, “Here's an article like this.”
When I first heard it, I got goosebumps, thinking, “Wait, what is this...”
Even though it's my own writing, it feels like I'm seeing it from a different angle.
I want not only the readers but also the writers to experience this.

Finally—Feeling the new possibilities of note
I think note is a service where both writers and readers are used to “reading.”
But I think it would be fine to have more entry points.
By “listening” instead of “reading,” the people it reaches might change, or the way it's conveyed might change.
I believe this will become a new way to enjoy note.
