[Daiso] The ultimate weapon for bulky PET bottle waste! The 220-yen "Pechanko Pump" was a game-changer for share house management!
For those of you thinking, "Ugh, the trash can is overflowing again..."
Plastic bottles that multiply in the corner of the kitchen for days until recycling day.
They expand back after you crush them, or they are just too hard to crush in the first place...
That "bulky stress" is subtle, but it definitely lowers your quality of life, doesn't it?
In the midst of this, I encountered an incredible "game-changer" at Daiso.
I would be happy to share this information with you all.
It is this, the
"Pechanko Pump (220 yen including tax220 yen)".

As a share house manager, this has been the answer for years...
I manage multiple share houses in Tokyo.
Our company gives the following rules to tenants regarding PET bottles.
1. Remove the cap and label (sorting)
2. Lightly rinse the PET bottle
3. Dispose of it
Because of this, we cannot use the "crush by hand and screw on the cap" method, so we cannot compress the PET bottles. That's why I was always frustrated by bulky PET bottle waste.
I considered compressors sold online, but (things like this ↓)
They are bulky and large
The price is surprisingly high
There is a possibility that tenants will find it troublesome and stop using it
And so, I spent years worrying about it.
Then one day, while stopping by Daiso to buy supplies for a new property (Kami-Jujo Share House)...
"This is... could it be...!"
I felt like I had been struck by lightning and immediately decided to buy two (one for testing at home and one for the share house).
📦 I tested it out—it's simpler and more satisfying than I imagined
At first glance, it looks like a water gun.
I wondered, "How do you use this?" but it was ridiculously easy.
Remove the cap from the finished PET bottle
Press the tip of the pump vertically against the mouth of the bottle
Grip the round part and pull it out to release the air. Slide it back and forth several times
\ CRUNCH!! /
In just a few seconds.

The sturdy plastic bottle is crushed flat as easily as a piece of paper.
Before I knew it, I was mindlessly crushing one plastic bottle after another that had been in the trash bin. This is just like that,
the 'bubble wrap' sensation.
Yes, I love bubble wrap.

✨ 3 reasons why this 220-yen experience is a 'must-buy'
① The super satisfying 'crunch' feeling
Pump out the air and it flattens in no time.
You might get addicted to it.
② Safe & Hygienic
Much safer than steel tools you have to step on.
You can crush them easily while standing without needing much force.
③ Trash bag space cut in half
Since they become surprisingly small, you'll save a lot on trash bags! And since they don't take up space when taking out the trash, it's easier to take the trash out. It's also kind to your neighbors since it doesn't crowd the trash collection area.
🤔 'Points to note' before using
Insert vertically into the bottle opening: Be careful, as gaps in the opening will prevent proper decompression.
Hard carbonated bottles require a bit of force: But it's still easier than stepping on them with your feet.
It makes noise: The sound of the bottle crushing will naturally occur. However, you can try to minimize the noise by adjusting the piston pressure.
Price is 220 yen: Don't be surprised at the register thinking it's 110 yen.
✅ Implementation decided. I've already created a notice for it.
Because it was so easy and fun to use, I immediately decided to introduce it to all our properties.
To ensure residents can use it without confusion, I also prepared instructions for use.

I would be happy if this becomes a magical tool that turns the hassle of taking out the trash into a satisfying experience🌱
■ Conclusion: Putting an end to all 'trash-crushing stress'
