Connecting with the world, like the thread that connects prayer beads
Prayer beads are made of many stone or wooden beads connected together.
The thread that connects them is not usually visible.
However, we know that the thread runs through them.
If there were no thread, the beads would surely fall apart.
The fact that they are not scattered makes it clear that the thread exists.
Each of our bodies is also connected.
When we eat, food enters this body.
It is released from this body in the form of dead skin or waste, and returns to the earth.
Food is produced from the earth.
That food then enters someone else's body.
In the form of the cycle of food,
our bodies are connected to the earth and to the bodies of other living things.
Plants breathe in the air I exhale,
and someone else breathes in the air that plants exhale.
We are connected through the air.
When we get close to someone, our body heat connects.
A sense of peace arrives.
Emotions are also connected.
When someone is sad, those around them also become sad.
When we place ourselves in a quiet space, everyone feels a quiet mood.
Even though we appear to be separate,
we are actually connected.
There is no one who can stand alone without relying on anyone else.
We are connected to the world.
Yoga teaches that the idea that only what is inside our skin is 'me' is merely an assumption, an illusion.
Even if we appear to be separate, we are connected.
Even if we cannot see it with our physical eyes,
if we use the eye of knowledge, we can see that we are connected.
Just as prayer beads rely on a thread to stay connected,
we are connected to our surroundings by various things.
I use the eye of knowledge to see the thread that connects me to the world.
