Short-Short | The Ever-Changing Detective
"I have figured out who the culprit is."
As the detective said this, the room fell silent. Everyone watched with bated breath.
"The m-murderer is, I-Inoue. At the e-estimated time of death, a-around 10 PM, h-he has no alibi."
"No, Inoue was in the cafeteria with everyone at that time."
Someone corrected him.
"Then, U-Ueno, it's h-him."
"...Ueno was also in the cafeteria."
"T-then, i-it's Emoto."
"Emoto was also in the cafeteria. ...Hey, what's wrong?"
The detective was rolling his eyes back and foaming at the mouth.
"Damn, it looks like a freeze. Abort the experiment."
"There seems to be a problem with the reasoning routine. Ver1.79.6α is full of bugs."
"We can't even release it for beta testing like this."
"Besides, the language generation was weird even before that."
The scientists were groping in the dark. Their plan was to resurrect the deceased great detective and put him to use in criminal investigations. The former great detective, with a connector inserted into his temple, was twitching. If the attempt succeeded, 'this' would be installed into other 'hardware' as well.
