SS#078_A Prescription
Humanity has perfected a technology for introducing mosaic mutations into the brain in order to artificially generate 'creativity'.
However, the human brain alone lacks sufficient mutation patterns.
Therefore,
the curiosity of crows
the empathy of dogs
the problem-solving of octopuses
the mimicry of monkeys
the spatial awareness of migratory birds
and other neurodevelopmental genes from various animals were incorporated as 'mutation patterns'.
Since then, people have occasionally been struck by animal-like impulses. People who go to pick up shiny objects outside the window during meetings. People who cannot stop drooling before lunch. People who start petitions to ban catnip perfume.
And Mr. Y was troubled by the impulse to check the scent of people he met for the first time.
'Is this a disease?'
The doctor finished the examination and closed the medical chart.
'It is not a disease.'
Mr. Y felt relieved.
'Then, what should I do?'
The doctor took two leashes in hand and opened the door to the examination room.
'Never mind that, let's go for a walk.'
Outside, other patients like him had gathered and were skillfully herding a flock of sheep.
