Putting Past Time into a Song: Composing with Suno, 'Beyond the Silence'
This is an update on my music production using Suno AI.
I've managed to reach my third song. Of course, I'm not 100% satisfied, but this time I feel like I've finally grasped a sense of, 'Well, this is the direction I should be heading.'
Honestly, it was really tough.
There were moments when I thought, 'I can't even bear to look at Suno anymore...' (laughs).
Although the lyrics took shape quickly, I couldn't solidify the image of 'what kind of song I want to make,' and I reflect that trying to force a new direction was the cause of my wandering.
In the process, I realized that I am indeed suited for ballads that value the space between the lines.
I probably used about 400 credits this time, but it was precisely because of that trial and error that I saw what I needed to see.
The scene I wanted to depict is the memory of Kobe, where I spent my student days.
Due to the earthquake, the city as it was back then no longer exists. It is a landscape that lives only in the minds of those who lived through that era. This is a song that captures that.
[Beyond the Silence]
[Verse 1]
A scrap of paper that slipped from a faded album
Only the time from back then remains left behind even now
In the margins, your name was sleeping in its old form
Our gazes passed each other without ever meeting
Before words could be spoken, only the seasons passed by
Even your name unraveled at the bottom of my memory
How many nights have I piled up since then?
That smile directed at someone else
Is swaying faintly in a place I can no longer reach
Does the wind brushing the pier still touch your hair?
Can the sound of those shoes echoing on the slope still say your name?
[Verse 2]
In the scent of winter carried by the wind
The warmth that had been sleeping slowly wakes up
The evening cityscape suddenly seemed to sway
Without even remembering where I was headed
I kept walking through the broken era
Even though the traces of you should have faded into the distance
By the number of seasons I have piled up
When I looked up at the sky of the same color
A soft voice descended quietly
The feelings I couldn't touch
Are fleeting, like the silence of an autumn night
Even the name that disappeared
Turns into tears and spills out softly
Does the bustle shaking the town still wrap around your dreams?
Are the lights of prayer swimming in the night sky swaying in your eyes right now?
