2025 World Tour Travelogue Day 6 (2/2)

I take a slow walk through the city on my first day in Graz.
I cross the fast-flowing Mur River toward the Old Town.
The typical European cityscape and trams.
It is less crowded and more relaxed than Vienna.

I go into a gelato shop called Eis-Greissler Graz that I looked up on Google.
I ordered gelato made with pumpkin seed oil, and it was delicious.
It has a rich flavor similar to pistachio.

I kept walking while eating and ended up at the Graz City Park.
There was a large pond, and many ducks and people were spending time leisurely.
I thought it was like Nakajima Park in Sapporo.

It was too early to go back to the hotel, so I extended my walk to the University of Graz.
I was somewhat curious about it because my academic advisor apparently attended a conference or something there a few weeks ago.
I had information that I could tour the library, but I couldn't find the entrance and wandered around.
Just as I was about to give up, S persisted.
S worked hard to prepare some German and asked a university staff member.
As a result, we were able to tour part of the library, but it wasn't that impressive.
The library at the university I attended was much grander.

S's tenacity abroad is amazing.
The attitude of not backing down until achieving something, and the attitude of trying to communicate in the local language.
It doesn't look like someone who had no experience abroad until two years ago.
Compared to our daily life in Japan, S has become much more curious and assertive.
That is a wonderful thing.

Evening came, and we returned to the hotel by passing behind the Schlossberg fortress.
On the way, students were playing sports.
Beach volleyball and some mysterious ball game played in doubles.
I wondered if they long for beach sports because they are a landlocked country.

We bought prosciutto and schnitzel at a supermarket near the hotel and went home.

The beer was consistently delicious, but the taste of the deli items (especially the schnitzel) was mediocre.
