Heart Coating @ Yokohama Lagoon
On July 31st, I was able to safely broadcast another episode of FM Yokohama's "Yokohama Lagoon" this week. Thank you very much.
In this hot summer, while it is hard to recommend going outside, please take measures for the sake of your health.
This week, we started with feedback from listeners about the 1 Million People's Classic Live. Since we started holding these every month, I truly feel that a new community has been born. Hearing someone say, "I was losing my confidence and my smile was fading," and that they were healed by the 1 Million People's Classic Live at the temple, makes me truly happy from the bottom of my heart.
Today, even though humanity has been to the moon, we have become unable to visit our neighbors. Although tools have evolved, it seems that human communication skills continue to decline. I feel that misunderstandings lead to more misunderstandings, causing more pain and hurt. I spoke about the Buddhist concept of "Ninniku-shin" (patience/forbearance), a protector for the heart, or a coating.
You want to convey your feelings, but they don't get through. That happens. Without being swayed by such things, I want to keep looking at the "purity of the heart" and continue to convey my message without giving up.
Since the world is noisy and rough, I also talked about the "leaf" of the lotus. I believe the "lotus effect" is a guide for living.
I chose "I NEED YOU" by Maurice White, the bandleader of Earth, Wind & Fire; it is a wonderful song filled with memories of my youth. For the second song, I chose the masterpiece "JUST THE TWO OF US" by Grover Washington Jr. and Bill Withers.
