[Results Announcement!!] "1st note-M1 (1st Grand Prix for Writing with a Straight Face to Make People Laugh)"
Thank you very much for waiting so long.
I am Watanabe from "Watanabe who thinks about following," a virtual comedy duo (VOC) consisting of two people who don't know each other's names or faces, which is (probably) the first of its kind in note history.Watanabe of "Watanabe who thinks about following".
Thank you very much for participating in this project, which we launched on February 27, 2022, purely on a whim. The details of the project are here.
Far exceeding our expectations, a masterpiece magazine with over 60 total entries has been completed. Every single work was a gem that couldn't be read without laughing, and the judges struggled while laughing to have to choose a "winner" from among them. While we would like to be greedy and pick this and that, life requires us to choose between "this or that."
After thorough reading and discussion while checking against the judging criteria, in addition to the "Winner," we urgently decided to establish a "Runner-up" and "Judges' Special Awards (Watanabe Award, Omou Award, Sora Award)."
We will provide 1000 yen support & recommendation to the winner, and 500 yen support & recommendation to the runner-up.
We will send them along with the reasons for our selection.
Are you ready?
☆Winner☆ Prize money 1000 yen (support)

Title: "Pekopa-style Non-tsukkomi Manzai 'It's Okay to Have Various Forms of Like' | note-M1 Grand Prix"
[Reason for Selection]
I laughed until my stomach hurt. While fulfilling all the project's objectives and submission guidelines, I couldn't help but laugh at the bold approach. What is particularly noteworthy is the tenacity of writing all three works in the same style; the style of "covering" existing comedians while maintaining respect, as if a mimic comedian could establish themselves as a genre, is craftsmanship. Since the note-M1 is an homage project to the original M-1rip-off...anyway, this style can be called orthodox and worthy of the first winner. I will dare not touch upon the content of the article. For those who haven't read it, please enjoy it, and for those who have, it is a gem I want you to savor again.
Shiro-san said, "I continued writing with a straight face for two weeks after entering March. I have forgotten how to laugh when writing my own articles." I am very sorry for holding such an indecent project, but I hope you can regain your smile and resume your fun writing activities. (The Judges)
☆Runner-up☆ Prize money 500 yen (support)
Creator: Rin Natsuki
Title: "If I accidentally got caught up in a serial murder case (1930 characters)"
[Reason for Selection]
The title hints at it. I was strongly drawn in from the beginning and read it with a straight face, but after the tumultuous climax, it was revealed to be a note-M1 entry. Looking at it, it was completely intentional. The balance between the straight-faced feel of the completed text and the humor is exquisite, and that magic radiates a bewitching beauty. Especially excellent is the "exchange in the comment section." I'll say it again. The comment section. The instantaneous power to layer joke upon joke, the insight to expose the partner's preferences, and the fact that even the comment section is overflowing with laughter is truly genius.
It is a work of art that could be called the winning piece, but if it were to win, the important partner's 'hehe' preferences would be exposed to the public eye more than they are now, so as a result of showing consideration to the relevant parties, we tearfully decided to make it the runner-up. It's a secret.
(The Judges (excluding Omou-san))
Now, there was also core humor that hit the spot in works other than the winner and runner-up. So, next, we will announce the "Judges' Special Awards" selected by each of the three judges. We will provide 200 yen support & recommendation to each.
☆Watanabe Award☆ Prize money 200 yen

Title: "Midsummer Equation"
[Reason for Selection]
I was drawn in from the beginning by the unique worldview that proceeds with a straight face from the flashback. Amidst the atmosphere of a serious incident lurking in daily life, the story takes a sudden turn with "that music" starting abruptly as background music, and the tension rises. The mismatch between the precise reasoning and the strange answers reached the level of art, and a sense of euphoria rushed through me along with strange laughter. Truly interesting. (Seito Watanabe)
☆Omou Award☆ Prize money 200 yen
Creator: MIKI_USA_KUSO.note [Follow Back 100]
Title: "[Dark History] Suddenly remembered that event from that summer I never wanted to remember again [Part 3]"
[Selection Reason]
The author writes about their dark history from elementary school. This piece fully showcases the author's innocent and bright personality. By weaving in the way a child speaks, the cute yet childish "big lie" makes you chuckle. I was a bit conflicted about the selection because it used an abundance of emojis, which are rarely seen in other entries, but I judged that since emojis can also be interpreted as "text," it did not deviate significantly from the purpose of this project. (Thoughts on ○○)
☆Sora Award☆ Prize money 200 yen
Creator: hiro
Title: "[Stomach Cancer Survivor Diary] Let's walk looking up!"
[Selection Reason]
"The Ice-Melting Yokai"—I started reading with a straight face, but you really made me laugh.
The author titled it as a stomach cancer survivor, so I was initially hesitant about whether it was okay to laugh, but you refreshingly embodied the fact that every day is always overflowing with laughter, that we can laugh about it together, and that there are no barriers there.
I intended to send you some encouragement, but I realized I was the one receiving encouragement! Thank you!! (Sora)
Wonderful works that will train your abs.
That concludes the announcement of the winners... not!
There is one more creator we must not forget.
☆Top Batter Award☆ Prize money 200 yen

Title: "I want to think about laughter without taking a single step out of Disney 2"
[Selection Reason]
You were the first to "declare participation" in a project that started on a whim, and you also secured Entry No. 1. The attitude of taking the lead and posting amidst the anxiety that perhaps no one would participate, as well as the harmony of the straight-faced feeling and humor overflowing from the work, brought laughter and wrapped me in a happy feeling. I have established the Top Batter Award.
Thank you for serving as the vanguard! (Seito Watanabe)
With that, the award ceremony for the note-M1 Grand Prix is concluded.
To all the winners, I would be happy if you could share your thoughts or aspirations for the next time in the comments section or on your own note. To all the creators who unfortunately did not win, I hope you will understand the judges' sentiment: "I wanted to make everyone a winner, but the recent trend of not ranking sports days is a bit strange, isn't it? Athletes are interesting because they rank and compete." I would also be happy if you could share your thoughts or aspirations for the next time.
We, "Tsui-te Omou Watanabe," also achieved our goal of participating in the main tournament of the note-M1 (completing 3 writings as a duo), but we missed out on winning, let alone the championship.
It is a very frustrating feeling, but we intend to sincerely accept the fact that our skills are still not enough and continue our training in laughter once again.
I would like to express my supreme gratitude to all the creators who entered this project, all the commentators who made the tournament lively, all the "likers" who laughed a little and pressed the like button, all the readers who touched the entries while wondering what this was, and the note management team who provided a wonderful place.
Thank you very much for staying with my clumsy writing until the end. May the seeds of laughter that sprouted with the arrival of spring bloom into colorful flowers all over the world.
