You have to tap a stone bridge until you break it to finally be able to cross it
I am Taishi, a salaryman in my late thirties.

I have been writing on note about the feedback I have received from my senior colleagues at work. They always provide insightful, core-piercing feedback at key moments, using interesting expressions.
With that said, here is some recent feedback from a senior colleague: "You have to tap a stone bridge until you break it to finally be able to cross it."
This was feedback for me, as I had failed to cross to the other side because I didn't tap the stone bridge enough, causing it to collapse.
The meaning of "tap a stone bridge before crossing"
What does "tap a stone bridge before crossing" mean?
Even if a stone bridge looks solid, you should still verify its safety before crossing. This is a metaphor for being extremely cautious, even beyond what is necessary.
The meaning of "You have to tap a stone bridge until you break it to finally be able to cross it" (Self-interpretation)
What does "You have to tap a stone bridge until you break it to finally be able to cross it" mean?
At first, I thought, "If you break it, you can't cross it," but I think this is what it really means.
If you absolutely want to get to the other side, it is only natural to be cautious beyond what is necessary.
The fact that you couldn't cross means you didn't tap it enough. Did you tap it enough to ensure you could cross 100%?
Did you exhaustively identify every unexpected possibility?
Did you prepare for every unexpected possibility?
Did you repeat the response to every unexpected possibility every single day? The condition of the stone bridge changes between today and tomorrow. Tapping it once is not enough.
Did you tap it until it broke, and if it broke, did you build a stronger bridge?
And then, did you tap that one?
Only by tapping it that much does it become a bridge you can finally cross.
Summary: Tapping thoroughly
When I think about it, maybe dieting, AGA treatment, and work are all the same.
Doing something half-heartedly only yields half-hearted results. That is just how the mechanism works. If there is a result you want to achieve, you have to keep tapping and breaking things to build a new bridge, and keep at it until you have a bridge so strong it won't break.
The fact that this stone bridge collapsed, and the idea that "you should tap a stone bridge until you break it before you can finally cross it."
I will carve this into my heart.
(Bonus) I bought this book because I wanted to learn about sales.
