Enjoy Karaoke in Your Own Way #MieharuKaraokeLateSummerVersion

Well, I haven't been to karaoke much lately, but I love singing!
(Since they are easy to sing, I overwhelmingly choose male vocal songs.)

It's fine to sing your favorite songs at your own pace, and it's also fine to harmonize or sing with someone else even if you don't sing much yourself.
I think karaoke is great because everyone has their own way of enjoying it.

With that in mind, I've chosen 5 songs, including my favorites and instrumentals (songs with music only and no lyrics). Once things settle down, I'd love to go to karaoke and live concerts again.

1. Bunny Girl / Spitz

It might be an exaggeration, but Spitz is definitely the band that has influenced my life the most. I've been supporting them for about 20 years now.

This is a super personal opinion, but I want to say loudly that it's a waste to only know their so-called top three songs!

I also performed this song in a hobby band. At that time, I sang my heart out while playing the chords on an acoustic guitar.

The intro gives me a sense of energy.
I absolutely love the chorus phrase, "Catch it with a trash bag."

2. Sharin no Uta (Wheel Song) / BUMP OF CHICKEN

No matter how many times I listen to or sing it, it always feels so bittersweet.

The lyrics have a narrative quality that brings vivid, clear scenes to mind.
Even without direct expression, I feel that "Ah, a very important person is going on a journey far away."

The footage at the end of the music video that hints at a reunion is also great.

3. Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta nara (If I'm Wrapped in Kindness) / Yumi Matsutoya

"Everything reflected in my eyes is a message"
I deeply feel that these are very profound words...

By the way, about 10 years ago, when I performed this song live, I forgot the chords halfway through. I have a memory of laughing it off and randomly connecting to the chorus...
But now, that is also a necessary experience!


4. MILK / Noriyuki Makihara

When I first heard it in college, something so warm welled up inside me, and I couldn't help but think, "Why is it so kind, everywhere?"
I couldn't help but think that.

Back then, I couldn't get used to my new environment, and I was struggling because I couldn't talk well with the people around me.
But even then, it gently wrapped everything about me, and I felt relieved.

"After all, I am who I am, so I have to learn to love my flawed self."
I cannot measure how much these words have supported my heart.

5. Open world/toconoma

The last one is a song by an instrumental band (a band with no lyrics, only music).
toconoma is a weekend band where all the members also have day jobs. That in itself is amazing.

The music video, which lets you feel the daily life of each member, is wonderful.

It makes me feel like it's powerfully pushing me forward and cheering me on as a new life begins... The guitar solo in the middle is also cool!
(I really want to be able to play like this, with the cutting and the solos.)

The MC during their live shows is laid-back.
The audience also grooves along naturally in their own way, and the atmosphere is always comfortable. I also recommend the Thai restaurant 'Kitchen Conro' (in Mitaka) run by their bassist.
