My Favorite Minimalist Stationery
I love stationery.
However, since I can't use up everything if I have too much, I try to keep only a carefully selected few.
That said, even though I intend to be selective, there are things I've bought because I couldn't suppress the 'urge to try them out,' and I have to reflect on that...
My favorite stationery items, chosen for their size, usability, and simplicity.
Everyday pens
I like stationery that is simple and doesn't take up space.
For my everyday pens, I want to use four colors.
Black, red, blue, and green.
I bought this one because I was drawn to its slim shape.
It's multi-colored, yet slim.
It has a size that slips right into a pen case, yet it contains four colors.
Three colors won't do; it has to be four.
It's very easy to write with and has great color payoff.
It writes smoothly.
Every color is vivid, but I am especially in love with the green.
There is nothing but good things to say about it.
My husband also uses it for work, so we keep plenty of refills in stock.
Mini-sized correction tape
It is incredibly compact and fits even in slim pen cases.
I usually useMONO correction tapebut this is what I use when I'm out.
It's a wonderful size that doesn't get in the way even if left in a pen case.
Another memory storage area
I couldn't live without this.
Flashes of inspiration,
shopping lists,
anxieties that suddenly pop into my mind,
funny stories I suddenly remembered,
a line from a song that won't leave my head (to look up later),
I write down everything that comes to mind.
6.5 x 9.5 cm, palm-sized.
It is my other memory storage area.
It comes with a pencil, so I can take it out and jot things down immediately.
Truly, a 'memo right away!'
Have you ever had a 'super creative idea' that you forgot in an instant, or tried to jot it down on your smartphone only to reflexively open social media and forget it entirely?
Handwritten notes are the best.
Since both the memo pad and the pencil are sold as refills, you can use the main body for a long time once you purchase it. Don't forget the dedicated pencil sharpener, too.
A minimalist planner that turned out to be useful
The other day, I accidentally left home without my other memory storage, Sugu Memo! so I decided to buy a memo pad at Maruzen.
Thinking I would use it in the future, I considered buying a Sugu Memo! Refill but I had nothing to write with. Buying a pen separately felt like a waste.
That was when I spotted this sitting (or so it seemed) in the corner of the spring-start planner section.
At 7 x 9.5 cm, it's a minimalist planner about the same palm size as the Sugu Memo!. Of course, it comes with a pencil. It's a weekly planner with a two-week spread, and it's nice that there's a quote at the bottom of every page.
I... I want to use this! Either way, I needed a memo pad and something to write with right away. I headed straight to the register.
There are two types of free pages: ruled and plain with perforations. It seems like there will be a wide range of ways to use it, such as tearing out notes and sticking them into other notebooks.
I usually use a SUNNY planner, but I decided to carry this ultra-compact planner when I go out. Carrying the SUNNY planner is bulky, but handwritten notes are essential... The amount of items I own has increased, but a memo pad is a necessary item even when going out. I'll try using it for a year and then decide whether to continue next year.
Sugu Memo! at home, and the Appointment Diary when going out.
You might think I'm a shill for Daigo, but unfortunately, I'm just a fan. Daigo, you are my favorite.
Minimalist stationery I'm considering purchasing in the future
It's a planner pen that combines a mechanical pencil and a ballpoint pen into one, yet it's 5.6mm in diameter and 121mm long. (The image looks gold-ish, but the actual product looked more silver to me.)
I'm considering it for my pocket memo pad. Basically, a mechanical pencil alone is fine, but I sometimes use a ballpoint pen when I'm out, so wouldn't having this one pen achieve the ultimate space-saving?
However, it's longer than the Sugu Memo!, so if I put it in my pocket, it feels like it might poke my leg.
Should I buy it just for going out? But if I need it when I'm out, I could just take a ballpoint pen from home, which would be far from minimalist...
I buy minimalist stationery and end up not being minimalist.
It feels like putting the cart before the horse, so I am currently refraining from buying any, but oh, I want them, I want to try using them.
A mechanical pencil and ballpoint pen that is 5.6mm in diameter and about 12cm long,
doesn't that pique your interest?
It does, doesn't it?
Ever since I learned of its existence, I have been thinking about this pen once a week.
My small memory storage area is being dominated by this pen.
Memories that spill out must be transferred to a pocket notepad, which is another memory storage area.
Because I forget things so easily.
