[Short Short] The Sausage Constellation Meteor Shower

One day, meteors rained down across the entire Earth.

It was the Sausage Constellation meteor shower.

No such constellation exists.
The reason it was called by that name was because a certain plant grew in the regions where the meteors fell.
On that knee-high plant—

Sausages grew.

The fruit looked exactly like sausages, and when eaten, they tasted very similar too.
Moreover, because they were far more delicious than real sausages, they became the talk of the town for almost everyone.
People even traveled to remote areas they rarely visited to pick all the sausage fruit.
The meteors, which had brought an unexpected gift, were dubbed the "Sausage Constellation meteor shower" with a mix of gratitude and a sense of humor.

After that—
The anomaly arrived suddenly.
People who had eaten the sausage fruit suddenly began to transform into sausage trees.
However, since they were originally human, it was only natural that people hesitated to eat those fruits.
Then, why such a phenomenon?
Who on earth would eat them?
People finally realized.
What the meteors had brought were seed sausages.

And then, the time for harvest arrived.

Suddenly, giant black spheres filled the Earth's sky.
Long tubes extended from the spheres and sucked up every last one of the fully grown sausage trees.

It had been said that humanity might go extinct due to a meteorite or meteor, just like the dinosaurs.

In a sense, that is exactly what happened.
