Suno's support is also super AI

When you think of Suno, you think of an AI music generation service.

However, the image of its support being super fast thanks to AI might not be that widespread yet.

With traditional IT services, the experience was usually like:

  • being passed around between departments by an AI

  • waiting until the next business day for an email reply

that was the general feeling.

However, Suno...

replied to my email instantly, including detailed information on my user history and payment details without missing anything,

and provided everything from the problem to the solution without any lag.

However, this also highlighted some blind spots and weaknesses.

1. I couldn't log in to Suno

I had previously subscribed to Suno's Pro Plan and generated quite a number of songs.

I canceled it afterward, but I don't remember deleting the account.

However, when I tried to log in after a long time, I didn't know how to get back to my previous account.

The screen showed options like SNS integration and SMS authentication.

"Wait, where did the account I used to pay for go?"

That was the situation.

Before even considering the quality of the music generation AI, I was stuck at the login screen.

2. I can access the billing information, but I can't get back to the main service

First, I looked for information regarding billing from Suno's help page.

Since this is quite hard to find, I'm leaving the URL here as a memo.

https://billing.stripe.com/p/login/dR6eWL9cZ4sy5fqaEE

This is the URL for the Suno account on Stripe, the platform that handles payments. The structure here is that Stripe is the platform, and Suno is just one user.

I was able to reach the payment-related page from the Suno account on Stripe.

I was also able to confirm the receipt.

In other words, the billing history exists.

However, I don't know the path to get back to the main Suno account from there.

One thing I realized here is that

the email address for payment and the login information for the main Suno account might be different things

was the case.

From the user's perspective, it's the same Suno.

But internally,

  • the main Suno account

  • payment information such as Stripe

  • login method

  • subscription history

are managed separately.

This fragmentation is a common occurrence in SaaS.

However, from the user's point of view,

"There is proof that I paid, but I can't get back to where my creations are."

It ends up in a pretty uncomfortable state.

3. I got an immediate response from Suno support

So, I contacted Suno support.

Since this was also quite hard to find, I'm leaving it here as a memo.

billing@suno.com

Then, a reply email came back quickly, feeling almost like a real-time chat.

Moreover, the content wasn't just a generic template.

Based on the information I provided, Suno identified my account and

  • payment information

  • account name

  • scale of generation history

  • past Pro Plan subscription

  • the fact that it was cancelled

  • the expiration date

  • current login method

and organized all of that in their reply.

Honestly, I was surprised by this.

With a traditional support experience,

it wouldn't be strange to just get an FAQ link back,

like 'Please check here if you cannot log in'.

However, this reply was different.

By cross-referencing my vague memory with Suno's internal information,

"The account you are looking for is this one"

they reached that level in one go.

4. This is not an FAQ bot

Of course, I don't know if it was a fully automated AI agent or if a human was checking it.

However, my experience was that it was not a conventional FAQ bot.

At the very least, it appeared to be:

  • reading the user's inquiry

  • referencing payment information

  • referencing account information

  • checking the login method

  • organizing the issues and next steps

as if it were doing these things.

In other words, it didn't behave like a simple chatbot, but rather like a support AI agent with a certain level of authority.

This feels quite futuristic.

Since it's a music generation AI company, I thought only the music generation was AI-powered, but it seems their support is also significantly AI-driven.

And that response was, at least as a first-line response, quite excellent.

Even if the information I remembered was somewhat vague, it cross-referenced it with internal data and organized the situation quite accurately.

Instead of being "given the runaround by AI," the AI dug deep into the issue all at once.

I honestly thought this was amazing.

5. However, I got stuck on SMS OTP

However, that was where the problem started.

The account was found.
The login method was identified.
I knew what I had to do.

But the SMS one-time passcode didn't arrive.

At this point, the futuristic feeling vanished instantly.

The music generation AI is amazing.
The support AI is also amazing.
But the final key is SMS OTP.

And if that SMS OTP doesn't arrive, you can't do anything.

The gap between these experiences was striking.

Suno's support, which seemed to be an AI agent, accurately located my account.

However, the actual key to unlocking the login was the old-fashioned SMS authentication.

Here, I felt like I suddenly saw the weakness of generative AI services.

No matter how high the performance of the AI itself is, if the UX for login, authentication, billing, and recovery is weak, the user experience stops right there.

6. It went through quietly on a weekday in US time

That day, no matter how many times I tried, the SMS OTP didn't arrive.

And in the end, I had to wait for a while.

However, once it hit a business day in US time, the SMS authentication went through.

From support,

"It has been opened"

"Please try again"

There was no reply like that.

However, it went through.

This feeling of it "just quietly going through" was quite impressive.

Of course, I don't know what actually happened.

Perhaps a human support representative checked something behind the scenes.
Maybe the restriction on the SMS side was simply lifted over time.
It might have been a temporary issue on the authentication provider's side.

I cannot say for sure.

However, from a user experience perspective, this is how it looked.

The AI immediately explained the situation, and a human or system silently cleared the bottleneck behind the scenes during US business hours.

This composition is interesting.

AI can explain.
AI can investigate.
AI can look at logs quite deeply.

But where it crosses the boundary of authority, human or operational processes still remain.

Perhaps in the AI era, humans won't disappear,
but rather remain in the places that hold the final authority.

7. Where I felt the difference from Big Tech

Here, I also felt the difference from major US Big Tech companies like Microsoft and Apple.

In my personal experience, SMS authentication from MS and Apple is quite stable.
When SMS is required for login or identity verification, it usually arrives immediately.

Of course, Big Tech companies have their share of troubles too.
SMS can be unstable depending on the country, carrier, or network.

However, at least in terms of experience,

"Authentication SMS from Apple and Microsoft arrives immediately"

is the impression I have.

On the other hand, while Suno is a cutting-edge service as a music generation AI, the experience of its authentication infrastructure did not feel like Big Tech.

The important point here is not that Suno is bad.

On the contrary, Suno is a rapidly growing service as a music generation AI, and its support response has become quite sophisticated.

However,

  • SMS authentication delivery rates

  • clarity of login recovery

  • the link between billing information and the main account

  • recovery completion notifications after support replies

  • authentication UX for international users

in areas like these, it still doesn't offer the same peace of mind as Big Tech.

I realized that even for cutting-edge AI services, the experience of authentication and operations is a separate issue.

8. The weakness of AI services might not be the AI, but authentication

This is what I felt most strongly from this experience.

The weakness of AI services might not be the AI itself, but login and authentication.

Suno's music generation is amazing.
The support response is also quite amazing.
At the very least, the initial response to inquiries was extremely fast, and the content was specific.

However, just because an SMS OTP doesn't arrive, the user is stopped.

Even if the account is found, you can't get in.
Even if there is a billing history, you can't get in.
Even if generation history remains, you can't get in.
Even if support explains the situation, you can't get in.

In the end, all that was needed was a few digits of a code.

I think this is a story common to all generative AI services.

In the future, users' creations, history, billing, rights, and work deliverables will continue to pile up on AI tools.

At that point, the problem of not being able to log in will no longer be just a mere inconvenience.

The key to accessing AI services is becoming more important than what the AI creates.

The smarter support AI becomes, the more the outdated authentication infrastructure behind it stands out.

My experience with Suno this time was exactly that.

9. Conclusion

This incident has changed my impression of Suno a little.

It's not just amazing as a music generation AI.
Its support response was also quite futuristic.

At the very least, when responding to inquiries, it deeply checks the user's usage history and payment information, and provides very specific answers.

This is clearly different from the traditional support experience.

On the other hand, the final hurdle was SMS OTP.

The AI found my account.
Support that seemed like an AI organized the situation.
But it was SMS that held the key to logging in.

And if that SMS doesn't arrive, even a futuristic AI service suddenly becomes an old-fashioned IT troubleshooting issue.

Suno was quite AI-driven not only in music generation but also in its support response.

However, no matter how smart AI becomes, the final key to the user experience lies in authentication and operations.

That was what left the biggest impression on me from this incident.
