Note Stitching Club May Edition *Photos added

The work I presented in April, my first since joining the club in March, was still unfinished.

The design was a bird I borrowed from the internet.
While I was stitching, I thought, 'I want to make this bird a Daurian redstart!'
So I changed the color of the belly halfway through, but when I looked at pictures and such,
the colors were a bit off.

*I managed to dig up the photos, so I've added them!
The male Daurian redstart that used to come visit sometimes
I fell in love at first sight, thinking... how cute...

But, I felt that unraveling the thread I had painstakingly stitched
wasn't quite right,
so I added the white wing patch, one of the Daurian redstart's features, right on top.

So, I decided this one would be the female,
and then,
the idea came to me to have a male Daurian redstart appear next to her.

Since the male has distinct features, it makes it easier to tell that the female is a Daurian redstart too,
and I don't have to unravel the thread I already stitched,
killing two birds with one stone!

Pun intended... haha.

The female, now taller than last month and with the white patch
I stitched the patch right over the brown.

Every year around February or March, a Daurian redstart would occasionally come by and perch on the trees or fences in my garden; it was so round, plump, and cute.

I wonder if the reason it hasn't come for the past few years is because of the changes in the area, like the surroundings turning into parking lots?
I hope it comes to visit again.
I'll be waiting for you next year too.

And with that, the Daurian redstart is complete.

The Daurian redstart is a migratory bird, just like the swallow (I learned that for the first time!).
It comes to Japan around autumn to overwinter,
and leaves Japan around spring; it is apparently a "winter bird."

Should the next one be a spring bird?
Or maybe I should make it a summer bird?

Birds are so cute, so
I think I'll stick with a bird series for a while.

Well then, see you later.
