I Am a Dog
I am a dog. I already have a name.
I have no idea where I was born. I only remember being put in a glass-walled room and crying out loud. I spent my time there watching what humans were.
Before long, several of those humans became my subordinates. These humans like to take me to all sorts of places. They make me get eaten by a black, monster-like creature that I don't quite understand. The humans get eaten along with me. Since we are able to come out alive, perhaps this monster is a kind one after all.
The inside of the monster is mostly hollow. Perhaps the humans think they shouldn't startle me, as they keep holding me in their arms the whole time. I look out at the world from the monster while being held by the humans. The monster moves very fast. When the monster opens its mouth just a little, a cool breeze blows in from outside, which feels good. The inside of the monster is surprisingly comfortable.
It was a very beautiful day.
The humans started wearing their black coats. I can tell by their scent that they are feeling restless. They might think they are fooling me by acting as if nothing is going on, but I have a good nose. I can smell their restlessness. Trying to hide it with just their facial expressions is no deception at all, but it seems the humans don't understand my habits. It is quite comical that they think they are fooling me. It is a nuisance that when I bark to try and tell them, they don't understand.
I barked desperately at the humans from inside my cage, wanting them to take me outside. Whether I get taken out or not depends on the humans' convenience. It is pathetic that even though they are my subordinates, the decision-making power lies with the humans. However, I worry that if I don't say anything, I might be closing off the possibility of being taken out myself, so I have decided to at least bark.
That beautiful, sunny day was a day I got to be taken out.
I was eaten by the black monster. The black monster seemed to be in good spirits that day, as it kept running and running. After a while, the monster seemed to take a break, and I went outside the monster with the humans.
A blue world I had never seen before spread out before me.

A huge, huge puddle was rushing toward me. I was thirsty, so I touched my tongue to the puddle. It was incredibly salty. The humans laughed when they saw me drinking the salty water. If they knew, they should have told me beforehand; these humans have poor taste.
I had learned well enough over the past month that these humans have poor taste. Even though they have delicious treats, they always hide them and only give them to me once in a while. They eat whatever they want, food that smells so delicious, yet they won't give any to me.
They are truly humans with poor taste.
However, I also know well that these humans are not all bad.
These humans are warm, and their hearts are kind. The food is good, and my bed is warm. When they stroke my belly, the humans make gentle sounds.
But still, I must say one thing.
To me, it doesn't really matter if the puddle is big or small, or if it's a park far away or a park nearby. Whether I take a walk in the neighborhood or spend an hour in the monster to go to a park far away, to me, it is just a walk.
I am accompanying the humans on their self-satisfying outings again today.
I live. I live and gain this peace. I gain peace while living. Crunch, crunch, munch, munch, chew, chew. Thank you, thank you.
