Making an Onigiri for Myself #MaskedNoteProject_5

When I make onigiri, I usually have someone's face in mind.
It might be my child, my husband, my wife, or my workplace...
In any case, someone is biting into it, with both hands or just one.
I hope they are smiling, but it doesn't matter if they are crying.
Through the onigiri, I am holding hands with someone.
I think there are times when I make onigiri for myself, too.
For example, when I take them to work or go out, I make small onigiri in advance to bring along.
At those times, I am imagining my own future.
During my lunch break at work, or when I can sit down for a moment while out, having an onigiri tucked away in my bag means I don't have to go out of my way to stop at a convenience store.
At such times, I feel grateful to my past self.
My past self and my future self are holding hands.
When I am eating alone right now, I don't go out of my way to make onigiri.
If I have a bowl and chopsticks ready, I can just scoop rice from the rice cooker.
If I sprinkle some seaweed and add salmon flakes, the ingredients are the same.
Even so, there are times when I dare to make them. I scoop the perfect amount for me to eat into a bowl and tuck in my favorite fillings.
Salmon, spicy cod roe, bonito flakes, pickled plum... I could put them all in, or mix them in. I could wrap it in seaweed, or not.
I squeeze it firmly to match the size of my own hand.
While I am making it, I am thinking about my slightly future self.
It is not much different from the me who is making it right now.
But when I actually eat it, I am holding hands with the me who made it.
I can really feel that I am loved by myself.
"Making an onigiri for myself"
I want to turn this into a proverb.
To make your slightly future self happy.
To dare to do now what you always put off.
Cutting some vegetables in advance.
Setting the air conditioner timer.
It is a proverb to use at times like that.
Making an onigiri for myself.
By doing so, even without waiting for someone else's love,
I can hold hands with myself, by myself.
