#CreativeAwardImpressions Enjoying the person that is Leon Saruogi
Author: Leon Saruogi
Leon Saruogi is someone who needs no introduction at this point.
The worldview, the readability, and the prose that gently seeps into the heart are unique to Leon.
Leon writes both novels and essays.
Since I love essays, I have read many of them.
I chose this one from among them.
It deals with heavy subject matter.
It vividly makes one imagine the suffocating feeling Leon must have felt back then.
Yet, strangely, there is absolutely no sense of dragging the reader along into that heaviness.
In both the preface and the afterword, one can catch glimpses of Leon's internal conflict over whether it was okay to publish this work, as well as their consideration and kindness toward the reader.
As a reader, I found that I really love this essay.
I am not sure if it is because the thought of 'wanting to die' has crossed my mind at least once, because I empathized with that suffocating feeling from back then, or because of the shared experience of being a spouse and a parent.
But I honestly think, 'Ah! I love this!!!'
Because couples go through all sorts of things.
When I have gone through various things, I am sure I will want to read this essay again.
▼ I am writing other impressions of the Creative Award as well
