What I felt seeing my mother's selfless love for my father as she cares for him
What's the matter?
My mother's voice echoes again today.
It has a gentle ring to it, like someone speaking to a child.
The recipient is my father, who is semi-bedridden with Parkinson's disease and dementia.
At first, watching them made my chest tighten and feel painful.
Even though I'm an adult, I would sometimes hold back tears that welled up.
However, now I can't help but see it as a heartwarming scene.
The reason I've come to think this way is because I have witnessed my mother's boundless love for my father.
She tends to his daily needs as if he were a baby.
She truly cares for him with such devotion.
She feeds him, changes his diapers, and makes sure he stays hydrated whenever she notices he needs it.
If he sweats in his sleep, she wipes him down and changes his clothes.
I can only take my hat off to my mother, who performs such heavy labor without a single complaint.
Watching her,
I am made to think about what love really is.
I am divorced, but if I had a partner,
would I be able to treat them with such love?
That thought crosses my mind again and again.
Can a person really devote themselves to another to this extent?
That feeling wells up inside me.
Is it possible because there is love?
Or is it possible because it has become a matter of course in daily life?
Right now, I don't know which it is.
What do you all think?
For those of you who have a partner,
what will you do when some form of care is needed in the future?
I don't think there is a right answer to this either.
Caring for them at home is one option.

Entrusting them to a facility and leaving it to professional hands might also be another way.
While watching my father and mother, I cannot help but question my own way of being.
At the same time, I find myself saved by their presence.
The form of love that is close to us,
when you quietly watch over it, I think you will find some realization.
Why not try turning your eyes to the love that is close to you?
There may be a bittersweet yet heartwarming sentiment flowing there.
If you have any episodes, please let me know in the comments or elsewhere.
Nature Poem "Light for Tomorrow"
Small flower
Swaying in the green
Emerald breeze carries
Sunlight pours down
Overflowing with light
On the shining hill
Spirits descend
Light dances
Heart gently sways
Turbidity washed away
Clear stream wells up
Thoughts take shape
Carved into this world
A mark for tomorrow
Pointing to the beyond
A voyage without sorrow
To a land yet unseen
