Foreword

Things often go missing in our house.
The culprit is usually the same one.
Today, the incident began quietly once again.

Body

"Mom, have you seen my invitation?"

"I left it on your desk."

"I looked there earlier, but it's not there."

"It's him again. He must have taken it somewhere."

"Sueyoshi, if you don't bring it here right now, you're not getting any dinner!"

Sueyoshi came over, wagging his tail.
In his mouth, he held something that looked like an invitation.

"Oh, what are you carrying off now?"

When I opened the invitation, this is what it said:

Congratulations on your selection.
We are grateful for your attendance at the Eccentric Ceremony.
The staff looks forward to it.
We will notify you of the date and time shortly.

"Wait, what is this? What is an Eccentric Ceremony?"

"Sueyoshi, where is my real invitation?"

"Mom, hey, Sueyoshi brought something weird over!"

"You're right. Hey, this says you can win a prize."

"If you win, you get a trip around the world...?"

“Well then,
shall we go into serious mode?”

“Sueyoshi, it’s your turn.”

Sueyoshi... (runs away)

“You,
you can eat all the Churu you want every day.
How about it, will you do it?”

Sueyoshi...

Afterword

What is the Eccentric Ceremony?
Was I invited, or did I win a spot?
In the end, I still don't really know,
but perhaps the smartest one of all
was the cat who said nothing and ran away.

My home is peaceful again today.
