[393] A Story About 'Living' Taught by a Grim Reaper
Recently, TVer has been featuring Arashi, so I watched the drama 'Shinigami-kun' starring Satoshi Ohno.
Looking at the title alone, it seems like a scary work, but when I actually watched it, it was completely different.
The protagonist of this story is a rookie grim reaper, No. 413, also known as 'Shinigami-kun'.
His role is to go to people whose time of death is approaching, inform them of the time they have left, and guide their souls to the spirit world.
However, he doesn't just do his job indifferently.
While interacting with the people facing death, Shinigami-kun stays close to their lives and feelings.

Even though he is a grim reaper, he is a presence that teaches us the preciousness of 'living'.
I was made to think many times while watching this work.
Everyone will surely face death someday.
That is something no one can avoid.
But in our daily lives, we live without being very conscious of that fact.
'I'll do it next time.'
'I'll do it someday.'
There might actually be many things we think about in that way.
However, when the people who appear in this drama learn of the time they have left, they realize what is truly important.
・People they want to see.
・Words they want to convey.
・Things they left undone.
When the end of life is in sight, what do people consider important?
I was watching while thinking about such things.
And strangely enough, even though this drama depicts 'death,' after finishing it, I feel a little more positive.
'Let's live today with care.'
It makes you feel that way.

Shinigami-kun, played by Ohno-san, was also very charming.
He is somewhat unreliable and makes mistakes, but he is kind and works hard for the sake of others.
That is precisely why, even though he is a Grim Reaper, he isn't scary; rather, he is a presence you find yourself wanting to meet.
Depicting 'living' through the existence of a Grim Reaper.
It was a very mysterious, warm, and slightly bittersweet work.
If there is anyone who hasn't seen it yet, please give it a watch.
I am sure that after you finish watching it, the faces of your loved ones will come to mind, and you will feel a little more affection for your own daily life.
