Midsummer Anchovies
These days, there is a limit to how much you can mask animal protein with bonito flakes.
I am asking dried anchovies to make an appearance as a desperate measure.
The problem is the fishy smell.
A midsummer dining table with no air conditioning.
The fishiness is even more pronounced.
As if timing it perfectly,
lemons that were just a little bit cheaper started appearing in stores.
They are really only slightly cheaper,
but since I had been holding back from buying them for so long,
there is a part of me that thinks
this tiny difference is a bargain...
So I ended up buying a huge amount.
Because of that,
I felt bold and squeezed them on with abandon.
The fishy smell, fermented by the humidity and high heat,
suddenly takes on the freshness of ceviche.
Oh, nostalgic Argentina.
Since I cannot go there,
I have no choice but to bring it to me.
When I think of it that way,
what a cheap lemon it is.
South America arrives for just 90 yen!
