It is painful when your hard work goes unrecognized because you have a desire to be acknowledged
"I'm working so hard, yet..."
There are days when those words
keep surfacing in my mind.
Even when I work with all my might.
Even when I act for the sake of others.
Even when I spend time and effort.
I don't get the recognition I expect.
And then,
"I wonder if my hard work is meaningless."
I end up feeling that way.
But I believe
there is a reason for that pain.
Today, I would like to talk about that.
The harder you work, the more painful it becomes
It's strange, isn't it?
More than those who don't try very hard,
those who work with all their might
are the ones who suffer when they are not recognized.
That is because,
precisely because you are working hard,
you want someone to see that effort.
That feeling,
is by no means a bad thing.
Everyone,
"You did a great job."
"Thank you."
Just by hearing words like those,
we are creatures who can look forward again.
What I really wanted was not "evaluation" but...
I used to,
"I want to be evaluated more."
think that way.
But,
when I looked deep into my heart,
what I really wanted,
was not the evaluation itself.
I am being properly seen.
My hard work was not in vain.
That was the sense of security I was looking for.
Therefore,
It is not that being unappreciated is painful,
the feeling that your existence is not being acknowledged
is what was painful.
Your value is not determined by evaluations
At work,
you are sometimes evaluated by numbers.
On social media,
there is the number of likes.
You may also find yourself comparing yourself to others.
However,
by those numbers alone,
your value is not determined.
The kind words you offered to someone.
The thoughtfulness that went unnoticed by anyone.
The time you spent interacting with a smile.
Such things,
even if they don't show up in the numbers,
certainly remain in someone's heart.
Who is the person you most want to be recognized by?
Just for a moment,
please think about it.
Who is it that
you want to be recognized by?
Is it your boss?
Is it your family?
Is it your social media followers?
Of course,
it makes you happy to be recognized.
But,
the person you spend the longest time with,
is none other than,
yourself.
That is why,
before waiting for someone else's approval,
I want you to say it to yourself.
"You worked hard today, too."
Those words,
can surprisingly save your heart.
Not to be acknowledged, but to be useful to someone else
When I first started posting content,
I was only concerned with the reactions.
Was it read?
Was it well-received?
But,
at some point, my way of thinking changed.
"I hope this writing makes even one person feel a little lighter."
I started to think that way.
Then,
strangely enough,
I stopped being swayed by the numbers.
People,
feel pain when their goal is to be recognized.
However,
being useful to someonewhen you make that your goal,
your heart becomes a little freer.
Conclusion
You work hard but aren't evaluated.
That is,
truly painful.
Therefore,
it is okay not to force yourself to deny those feelings.
I want to be recognized.
I want to be praised.
Those feelings are,
proof that you have lived your life to the fullest.
But,
please do not forget.
Your value is,
It is not something determined by someone else's evaluation.
Until today,
even while struggling,
even while pausing,
you have walked this far.
That fact alone,
is of sufficient value.
And,
even if there is a day when no one notices,
I want to convey these words to you.
You have truly done your best until today.
That effort,
is never in vain.
Surely somewhere,
it is helping someone.
And above all,
it is moving your own life,
forward little by little.
