Self-Introduction (with Q&A box)

Good morning.
I am the ultimate stay-at-home dad.
Today, I'm introducing myself, prepared for the possibility of being identified.

I'm in my 40s and hitting my final year of bad luck (yakudoshi) this year.
I am from a certain prefecture in the Kanto region.
I lived there until I graduated from high school, and during my university years, I lived alone in the Tohoku region for four years.
After that, I passed the local civil service exam and worked in water-related services in the Tokyo metropolitan area for nearly 20 years.

I got married and had two children, living as a family of four, but when my youngest was five, my wife was transferred to the Chugoku region for work.
Initially, we considered various options, such as taking both children with her, taking only one, or moving the whole family, but after a certain remark from my eldest daughter, we settled on the style of my wife living away for work.
From then on, for five years, we maintained a lifestyle of my wife living alone for work and me handling almost all the childcare solo. After various events, we all moved to the place where my wife had been living alone starting in April 2025.

Currently, my wife works as the breadwinner, and the children are attending their new schools.
I had the option to start working immediately after moving, but because I was exhausted from working for nearly 20 years in a job full of constraints, and because I wanted to focus on housework and childcare until our life after the move settled down (especially until the children who transferred schools got used to their new school life), I chose the path of being a stay-at-home dad.

Usually, after seeing my family off in the morning, I finish all the housework and spend my time leisurely, sometimes earning some pocket money by selling unused items.
I also get some time to myself occasionally to go on trips.
Being able to travel wherever I want without the restrictions I had during my time as a civil servant is what I enjoy most right now.

I acquired various qualifications during my time as a civil servant.
Driver's licenses (large vehicle class 2, large special vehicle, towing), heavy machinery related (mobile crane, land grading/demolition, slinging, forklift), hazardous materials handler, small watercraft, diver, disaster prevention specialist, etc.
My profession is pretty obvious, isn't it? (lol)
I spend my days exploring various paths, thinking that I hope to make use of them for some kind of work again someday.

That is who I am.
I will continue to do my best today, aiming to be the "ultimate stay-at-home dad."
