Driving School Evaluation Criteria for People with Disabilities: Physical Disabilities (Hand Impairments)
It is entirely possible for individuals with hand impairments (upper limb physical disabilities) to enroll in a driving school and obtain a driver's license.
Under Japan's Road Traffic Act, individuals are not automatically denied based on having a disability. The criteria depend on whether the person can perform the operations necessary for safe driving, such as steering, using turn signals, and operating switches.
