True Ghost Story: 'A Certain Day's Bus'

This story is from about 25 years ago.
One summer night, I was meeting up with a woman.
I picked her up in my car in front of the station, and we drove around aimlessly, wondering where to go.
Since we couldn't decide, I suggested to her, 'How about we just go there for now?'
'There' was a cemetery in my hometown that was famous as a 'haunted spot'.
When I was a bit younger, that vast cemetery could be entered by car even at night, so it was perfect for a slightly scary drive.
She was surprisingly enthusiastic, saying, 'That sounds interesting.'
Since we were meeting in my hometown, the cemetery wasn't that far away.
After driving for a while, we arrived at the entrance where we used to be able to drive in. There was a pole set up at the entrance with a chain across it.
'Huh? We can't get in by car?' 'Oh man...'
She looked a little disappointed.
I didn't know it had been closed off at night since I hadn't been there in a while.
Originally, this cemetery was accessible by car even at night, so it had become a hangout for local biker gangs.
It's only natural that they would take measures since I hadn't been there in a while. Even if we couldn't drive in, the cemetery was too vast to explore on foot. We both thought to ourselves that it would be a hassle to explore it on foot now.
We stood at the entrance, and a silent moment passed.
I think it was just a little past 8:30 PM.
There is a road that goes around the perimeter of the cemetery right next to the entrance, and a local bus was slowly passing right by us.
(Huh, there's still a bus at this hour?) I thought, and casually watched the bus.
Since it was a late-night bus, there were no passengers on board.
When I shifted my gaze from the back of the bus to the front, '‼️' to my surprise, there was no driver either!
I stood there, stunned, watching the bus pass by.
(Did I see that wrong?) I thought, and when I suddenly shifted my gaze to the woman next to me, she was standing there, just as stunned as I was.
We looked at each other, '...There wasn't... anyone driving, right...' She nodded silently.
We got scared and left the place immediately. What on earth was that......It's an event I still can't understand even now.
