【Real Talk from the Field】Regulations are getting stricter, but the work isn't getting any easier
Hello, I'm Tama, a current retail store staff member.
Today, I'd like to write a little bit about the real talk from the field, rather than sharing deals.
The rules in the smartphone industry have changed significantly over the past few years.
With regulations on 1-yen smartphones, caps on discounts, and measures against short-term cancellations, switching benefits are shrinking year by year.
Being on the front lines,
"It's become much harder to get people to switch than before"
is something I feel more and more often.
It's only natural, isn't it?
From the customer's perspective, it's harder to see the big benefits that used to exist, so there are fewer reasons to switch.
The difficulty has increased. But the targets remain the same.
This is the point that frustrates those of us in the field.
When regulations get stricter, it becomes harder to secure contracts.
In the past, many customers were drawn in by large benefits, making it an environment where it was easier to generate contract numbers than it is now.
Of course, I'm not saying everything was perfect back then, but it is a fact that it was easier to create a "reason to switch" than it is now.
Yet, the target numbers haven't dropped dramatically.
If anything,
smartphones
fiber-optic internet
electricity
credit cards
It feels like the requirements placed on us are increasing.
From Normal Mode to Hard Mode
It's just my personal feeling, but...
It feels like a game that used to be on Normal Mode has been updated to Hard Mode.
The enemies are getting stronger.
Recovery items are decreasing.
But the conditions for clearing the level remain the same.
Even among the staff on the front lines,
we sometimes talk about how,
"Isn't it just the difficulty level that's gone up?"
Even so, the work remains the same.
That said, this is irrelevant to the customers.
From the customer's perspective,
"Which one is the best deal in the end?"
is what matters most, after all.
So, no matter how the rules or goals change, I just make the proposal that results in the least loss for the customer right in front of me.
The industry has been changing rapidly lately, but we're still working hard on the front lines in hard mode today (lol).
I decided to write about some behind-the-scenes stories for a change.
I'd be happy if you could think, "The front lines have it tough, too."
This was Tama!
