A Night Where Nothing Needs to Be Added

When we encounter a dazzling light, we unconsciously
find our own shadow deep within our eyelids.

That music
reaches out gently
not just to the light, but to the shadows as well.

Strength and weakness,
loneliness and grace.

With a voice that seems to quietly embrace you,
saying, "It's okay just as you are."

That presence
appears like the dazzling light itself.

Overwhelming talent.
Refined appearance.
Innocence.
Supple thinking.
And,
the long time spent accumulating things in unseen places.

The stronger the light,
the further it illuminates the hearts of those far away.

Because it shines so brightly,
I think it draws in everything—
envy, jealousy, admiration,
and even pain that cannot be put into words.

But,
inside the person who radiates that light,
there is a shadow, too.

Hesitating, wavering,
carrying a shadow in secret,
yet continuing to walk forward.

Perhaps,
because the light is so strong,
the outline of their own shadow
is visible more clearly than anyone else's.

Even so, they take that shadow,
turn it into sound,
turn it into a prayer,
and quietly offer it up.

"You've done well."
"Even if no one else saw it."
"Even if there were times you didn't understand it yourself."
"Even so, I know."

It feels as if
I am being spoken to in a small voice like that.

Not about evaluations or results,
but as if to fully wrap around the days spent in hesitation.

That is why,
the more you have worked hard,
the more these words remain deep in your chest.

Not "Try harder,"
but "That is enough."

And not from above,
but sitting right next to you,
in a very small voice.
