Being too fixated can make you look older. The pitfalls of personal color.
I often hear that younger generations, such as those in their teens and 20s, tend to choose products by learning what suits them through personal color analysis, skeletal analysis, and face-type analysis.
This time, I would like to focus on personal color analysis and talk about it.
What exactly is personal color analysis?
Personal color analysis is the process of identifying colors that harmonize with the colors you were born with—such as your eyes, skin, and hair—to make you look your best and most attractive.By knowing your type, whether it's one of the four seasons or a more detailed classification, it is possible to make yourself shine.
There are several types of personal color analysis, and while you can find out by answering simple questions online, I still recommend getting a professional diagnosis.
It might even make you look older. The pitfalls of personal color analysis
Although personal color analysis exists as a means to make a person shine attractively, how many people know that there are actually pitfalls? Let me list them here.
(1) Getting a diagnosis while wearing makeup can affect the results
Wearing makeup can change your skin tone and other factors, which may affect the diagnosis results. It is best to be bare-faced when getting a diagnosis.
(2) You end up with only similar colors, making it hard to enjoy makeup and fashion
If you learn what colors suit you and only collect those, your makeup and fashion can become repetitive, or you might give up on colors you like, preventing you from truly enjoying them. This is counterproductive.
(3) Being too fixated on color narrows your range of combinations, which can lead to a disappointing impression
If you are too fixated on your personal color, your range of combinations may narrow, or it may become difficult to balance your overall look, which can actually detract from your charm.
(4) It can make you look older
For example, in my own case, I had a professional diagnosis a few years ago, and my first season was Spring and my second was Summer.
Spring is for warm-toned skin, while Summer is for cool-toned skin, so it might feel contradictory.
When I was in my 20s and 30s, wearing colors that suited Spring made my complexion look bright and made me feel more attractive.
However, as a result of my efforts in skincare, my skin became much brighter, and gradually, wearing colors that suited Spring made the yellow tones in my skin stand out, making me look older.
As a result, the colors that make me look most attractive now are those that suit Summer.
While using personal color as a reference, consult with yourself in the mirror and wear the colors you like

When I was a student, at 47 years old now, the concept of personal color didn't exist. I would buy clothes and cosmetics that caught my eye in magazines, and while I sometimes made mistakes, I also learned a lot from them.
Based on that, I pride myself on having acquired the skills to make myself look attractive over the years and having polished the ability to wear what I like effectively.
In conclusion, I would like to suggest that while you use personal color as a reference, it is best to consult with yourself in the mirror and wear the colors you are drawn to in your own way.
For example, if you want to wear a top in a color that makes your complexion look a bit dull, use accessories to adjust it. For makeup, you could use a lipstick color determined by your personal color analysis while incorporating your favorite colors into your eyeshadow.
Be true to what you like and enjoy fashion and makeup more freely. That will surely make you shine the brightest.
