Ever since I was a child, it has been my dream to live with dogs and cats.

My father's house burned down when he was young, so I think it didn't take long for the tragic event of

having the place you live disappear in an instant
[[phN_close]]to turn into an "attachment to the home."

In addition, because we were a "transferring family," the "pet-friendly" option was never needed when looking for rental homes, and because houses get dirty, the dream of living with dogs and cats did not come true for many years.

The wish I kept pleading for as a child—"I want to have a dog or a cat"—only to be ignored, was eventually granted by the "death of my parents due to illness."

The fact that there are cats by my side now is something I could never have imagined as a child.

And the fact that both of my parents would pass away in their 50s was also something I could never have imagined.

When I look at the sleeping faces of my cats, I keenly feel the fragility and greatness of life.

I deeply feel the responsibility of "seeing them through to the end."

The decisions made for treatment at each moment,
the length of life that might change because of them.

Do I have the resolve to face their lives until the very end?

I gently stroke the head of my sleeping cat.
They open their eyes slightly to peek at me, then press their head against my palm.

A face completely at ease, knowing they won't be attacked.

Thank you for trusting me,

for being by my side,

for weaving your life again today,

for breathing while you sleep,

for eating your meals,

and for everything.

No matter how I struggle, these children have shorter lifespans than I do.

If so,

it is my duty to love them until the time comes to return their lives to heaven.

It is my duty to be with you until the end.
