[Cat Stories] The story of how my cat's cystitis finally fully healed
Is your cat sleeping?
It's Shusho.
I spent three weeks writing articles about how my black cat, Takkun, developed "idiopathic cystitis," which has no clear cause, without any stones or bacterial infection.
With this article, the story of "feline idiopathic cystitis" comes to an end.
Well, thank you all for sticking with me for so long.
I can finally, finally report that Takkun's cystitis has healed.
I can finally, finally report that Takkun's cystitis has healed.
His bathroom frequency has returned to normal, and he is acting affectionate as usual, sleeping with Haru-kun as usual, and eating his meals.
sleeping with Haru-kun as usual, and eating his meals.
Even though he's fully recovered, I can't let my guard down, so I decided to continue hydrating him with a syringe.
However, because I overused it, my favorite 2.5ml syringe has passed away...
I searched the house and found two syringes.

...
...
Too big
Too small
...
...
Amazon-saaaan!!
Do you sell syringes!! (´;ω;`)
Can't be helped... I'll try giving it to him with this.

Straight face.
I mean, you don't have cystitis or anything.
You drink 30ml every single time, aren't you drinking too much?

Cystitis boy, Takkun.
Takkun is a bit sensitive, and he doesn't seem to like it when a big syringe squirts warm water into his mouth all at once,
so I have to suck up the warm water many times with a tiny syringe, thinking I'll just have to settle for that.
It's exhausting...
If you ask your vet, they can calculate how many cc of water your cat needs per day☆
I can't say for sure that doing this will cure your cat's idiopathic cystitis, but I'll summarize what I did.
Keep the room temperature between 23-25 degrees and humidity above 40%.
Do not change food or litter boxes unnecessarily.
(To reduce environmental stress)
Changed all water bowls to warm water
(It's okay if it cools down, but start with warm water)
Tried to get him to drink 50ml of water a day using a syringe.
(I think this was the most effective)
Honestly, Takkun has entered his senior years, so I think there were some fluctuations in his physical condition. He hadn't really been sick before.
However, I think it's also my responsibility that I didn't take any action even though the vet had told me before to "be careful about hydration."
I wish I had done this, I wish I had done that, it's too late now, but I've learned that hydration is the most important thing after all.
I think syringes are also sold at the vet's office, so
why not ask your clinic if you are interested?
Of course, they are also sold on Amazon.
They are quite affordable, so please look them up if you are interested (^▽^)/
The story of my cat's idiopathic cystitis, which I have been writing about for four long weeks,
concludes here.
To everyone who followed along, thank you so much.
I will continue to watch over my cat carefully.
