Reflecting on Age 33! A Year-End Review Using a Goal-Achievement Mandala Chart.
It seems a year has already passed since I wrote the article titled "It seems how you spend your '33rd year' determines your life. I wrote a goal-achievement Mandala chart on my birthday to commit to it." on November 23rd of last year.
Today is the final day of being 33. I will look back on the achievement level of the goals I set one year ago.
Reprint: "Age 33" Goal-Achievement Mandala Chart

Evaluation: What is the achievement level of the goal-achievement Mandala chart?
There were 8 action measures for each of the 8 themes (64 in total), and I have evaluated the achievement level of each on a 5-point scale.
Referring to the "GPA system" used in universities and similar institutions, I have marked each action measure with an evaluation of "S," "A," "B," "C," or "D."

Here is the actual Mandala chart for age 33 with the evaluation marks added.

The number of each evaluation point and the GPA (Grade Point Average) are as follows.
🎖️ S: 17
🥇 A: 14
🥈 B: 13
🥉 C: 11
🚨 D: 9
Overall GPA = [ 2.30 ]
GPA by Theme
(1) Work Growth = 1.50 (💀 Worst)
(2) Asset Expansion = 2.13
(3) Family Harmony = 3.00 (🏆 Top)
(4) Social Activities = 2.50
(5) Community Contribution = 2.50
(6) Quality of Life = 2.00
(7) Rest Awareness = 1.75 (💔 Second to Last)
(8) Eating Habits = 3.00 (🏆 Top)
Reviewing all 64 action measures
Since I'm at it, I will look back on the results of the 8 action measures for each of the 8 themes (64 in total) one by one.
(1) Grow work and business (Work Growth)
1-1. Produce output with a focus on both quality and quantity ( 71 points : B )
→ I gave it a lower score because I feel that both the quality and quantity of my output have dropped compared to last year. Although I started launching a new blog, I couldn't get around to Instagram or YouTube, which I had considered as reinforcement measures. This leaves tasks for next year.
1-2. Always speak with slow, polite language and honorifics ( 78 points : B )
→ I think I was generally able to execute speaking with polite language and honorifics, but I failed to focus on speaking slowly. I gave myself a negative evaluation in the sense that my level of awareness was low.
1-3. Never stop thinking / Do not give up easily ( 87 points : A )
→ There were painful times but I feel I was able to keep thinking of new measures. However, I judged that I could not give myself an S rating because my grit—the ability to see things through to execution—was insufficient.
1-4. Read for 1 hour every day / Finish 5 books per month ( 62 points : C )
→ On average, the number of books finished per month remained at 2-3. The average reading time was also around 10 hours. I gave myself a low rating because I was unable to make reading a "habit."
1-5. Study for 1 hour per week to acquire new skills ( 82 points : A )
→ I was able to set aside about 2-3 hours a month to catch up on new information, such as utilizing AI tools, researching the latest SEO trends, and looking up useful spreadsheet functions. Next year, I want to secure at least 1 hour of study time per week to obtain the "Certified Travel Supervisor" qualification.
1-6. Rely on others / Keep exploring outsourcing ( 65 points : C )
→ Although I was exploring outsourcing, there were few parts that I actually outsourced, and in the end, I often ended up advancing both work and projects by myself.
1-7. Incorporate my sole proprietorship ( 0 points : D )
→ A year ago, I was thinking of creating a micro-corporation, but due to various circumstances, I gave up early in the new fiscal year. Since incorporation depends on timing, I'm starting to feel it's not really something to set as a goal.
1-8. Establish a sub-business corporation and start a new business ( 30 points : D )
→ I wasn't able to start this either. However, I did start working on a sub-business separate from my main business (crowdfunding support). In addition, I am currently in consultations for the establishment of a general incorporated association for next year. I gave myself 30 points in the sense that I have started moving.
(2) Increase personal assets (asset expansion)
2-1. Invest 1.2 million yen annually in the new NISA ( 61 points : C )
→ I will hide the specific numbers, but because the tax and social insurance premium burden was high this year, I could not practice the quarter-investment method. I did not achieve the 1.2 million yen annual goal.
2-2. Continue accumulating crypto assets until the 1000th day ( 100 points : C )
→ I post accumulation report articles on my sub-blog, and I successfully achieved "1000 days of daily accumulation"! (My accumulation results are summarized in this article) Currently, although I have stopped accumulating Ethereum, I am continuing daily Bitcoin accumulation, and the duration has extended to nearly 1150 days.
2-3. Make it a habit to keep a household account book every day ( 20 points : D )
→ I completely slacked off halfway through. I've become a bit loose, so this is a reflection point.
2-4. Do not skimp on self-investment ( 92 points : S )
→ I think I am trying to actively get involved in opportunities, focusing on things that could become my own experience. However, since there are parts that overlap with other items, I feel I need to clarify the definition of self-investment. This is a reflection for next year.
2-5. Check personal asset balance sheet (BS) on the 1st of every month (89 points: A)
→ Although I wasn't able to check it on the 1st of every single month, I was able to maintain the habit of checking it almost every month. Since the numbers on the BS were growing steadily, I sometimes felt lazy about keeping the household account book, so this is an area for improvement from next year onwards.
2-6. Invest in human relationships / Go to meet people regardless of distance (93 points: S)
→ Although the number of times I went out somewhere decreased, I think I was able to maintain the awareness of investing resources into human relationships. There are many people I was able to go out to eat with individually.
2-7. Keep an eye on overseas-oriented businesses and overseas investments (41 points: D)
→ I was barely able to be conscious of this. I did implement a workation-style stay in Chiang Mai, Thailand, but perhaps I am fundamentally not interested in it.
2-8. Do not fear loans / Being able to borrow is proof of trust (60 points: D)
→ It's not that I was afraid, but as a result, there were no opportunities to take out loans, so I'm giving myself a bare passing grade. I hope to be able to think of businesses that would require loans next year.
(3) Maintain a peaceful home (family harmony)
3-1. Go out at least once a month (88 points: A)
→ I wasn't able to go without fail every month, but there were relatively many opportunities to go out together. Good.
3-2. Respect each other's routines (97 points: S)
→ Nothing but respect. To put it negatively, the relationship of "not interfering" has become comfortable.
3-3. Take care of your own mood (91 points: S)
→ It's been almost 3 years since we got married. It's been 2 years since we moved to Akashi and started living together, and I feel like things have stabilized. I feel like the instances of being in a bad mood or anything like that have almost disappeared.
3-4. Don't forget physical affection (87 points: A)
→ I was able to maintain the awareness of having solid physical affection. Recently, due to circumstances, it has decreased a little, so I deducted some points, but I think it's a high score for myself.
3-5. Communicate dissatisfaction and anger constructively (88 points: A)
→ The opportunities to feel dissatisfaction or anger have decreased in the first place. Among those, I don't think I ever really lashed out with emotions. I didn't feel it was worth an S rating, so I gave it an A rating.
3-6. Take care of plants without letting them wither (70 points: B)
→ I intended to take good care of them, but I let a houseplant and a cactus wither. The houseplant had unfortunate patterns: "it suffered damage without me noticing root rot" and "it withered in one night due to a sudden drop in temperature." The cactus had a sad pattern: "it rotted from the top due to being given too much water with a spray bottle." Since both were cases of over-caring, I'm giving myself a slightly lenient score.
3-7. Consciously express gratitude and affection (63 points: C)
→ I intend to express it, but I wasn't able to be very conscious of it. I'm giving myself a low, barely passing grade as a form of self-admonition.
3-8. Eat dinner together as much as possible (90 points: S)
→ Except for when meetings were scheduled, I think we were able to eat dinner together almost every time. My wife's routine is easy to understand, so that helps.
(4) Social good activities (social activities)
4-1. Pick up trash on trash collection days every week ( 92 points : S )
→ I was able to pick up trash almost without fail on trash days (Mondays & Thursdays) when I was in Akashi. By making it a routine to take a photo after finishing and posting it to my Instagram story, I feel like I was able to turn it into a habit successfully.
4-2. Make ongoing donations to non-profit organizations ( 90 points : S )
→ For now, I was able to continue being a monthly supporter of "Rikuzentakata's Sakura Line 311". It would be good if I could increase the number of organizations I donate to a little more.
4-3. Participate proactively in volunteer work ( 0 points : D )
→ I didn't do this at all. I couldn't even bring myself to focus on it...
4-4. Respond to requests from acquaintances without dismissing them ( 85 points : A )
→ I had many requests from elementary, middle, and high school classmates, middle school classmates, and acquaintances from my university days, etc. It's just my own self-assessment, but assuming there were no oversights, I should have been able to respond to almost all of them with sincerity.
4-5. Actively cooperate in spreading the word about acquaintances' activities ( 62 points : C )
→ Honestly, I wasn't able to do much of this. I might have even neglected spreading the word about things related to myself.
4-6. Share acquired know-how generously ( 70 points : B )
→ I intend to share as much as I can, but if asked whether I worked on it proactively, it might have been subtle. So, 70 points.
4-7. Bring my own bag / Bring an eco-bottle ( 80 points : A )
→ I was generally able to bring my own bag. However, eco-bottles inevitably become heavy, so I ended up buying plastic bottles quite often.
4-8. Pay attention to insulation measures and energy-saving living ( 80 points : A )
→ I think I paid as much attention as I could to insulation measures in my own room. However, there are parts that I haven't been able to make double-paned, so it is insufficient. Balancing the effort and cost is difficult.
⑸ Spend time on community contribution (Community Contribution)
5-1. Show my face at community development events ( 91 points : S )
→ I think I was able to participate in person as much as possible, focusing on events in Tottori. After all, many people are happy when I participate. I want to make an effort to work on this next year as well.
5-2. Always invite someone to a one-on-one meal when I return home ( 96 points : S )
→ I executed this almost perfectly as well. I made sure to invite someone to a one-on-one meal whenever I had time. It's a great way to create an opportunity to reach out to people I haven't seen in a while.
5-3. Visit Tottori and Atami every other month ( 90 points : S )
→ I haven't counted strictly, but I think I was able to visit Tottori almost once a month and Atami about once every two months.
5-4. Attract investment to Tottori-based businesses (73 points: B)
→ I may have done some preliminary work to attract investment, but I didn't achieve much in terms of results. So, I'm giving it a B rating.
5-5. Spend money at wonderful independent shops (70 points: B)
→ I wasn't very conscious of this either. Since chain stores are so easy to visit, I want to be more mindful of this next year.
5-6. Get involved with Tottori companies through pro bono work or side jobs (76 points: B)
→ I'm not sure if it qualifies as pro bono, but I was able to get involved to some extent. However, I haven't been able to get involved directly through a side job (though I am exploring it), so I will continue to look for opportunities.
5-7. Read municipal newsletters and information magazines to grasp the current situation (73 points: B)
→ I read them almost every month for the first half of the year, but gradually stopped doing so. I want to make sure I read them, even if it's a few months' worth at a time.
5-8. Participate in festivals / If possible, from the preparation stage (10 points: D)
→ Although there were a few possibilities for me to get involved in festivals, I ended up finishing the summer without participating in any.
(6) Improve quality of life (Quality of Life)
6-1. Practice smiling in front of the mirror once a day (80 points: A)
→ After brushing my teeth in the morning, I take a quick look in the mirror and smile. That routine has become a habit. However, I tend to forget when I'm not at home.
6-2. Keep a handwritten diary for 10 minutes in the morning (69 points: C)
→ I did it habitually for the first two months or so, but stopped halfway through. I barely did it at all in the second half. I'll use this as an opportunity to restart.
6-3. Take a 30-minute walk every day (70 points: B)
→ I couldn't do it every day. However, I feel that my "trash picking" habit also served as a walk, covering the 30 minutes.
6-4. Take care of skincare (92 points: S)
→ Skincare after bathing has become a habit. I only do the basics, but I want to keep my skin in good condition as I head toward my late 30s.
6-5. Be mindful of bringing souvenirs or gifts (84 points: A)
→ I was very conscious of this and practiced it in the first half of the year. My awareness has faded a bit over the last few months, so I lowered the score as a reflection.
6-6. Clean the room on Sunday nights (81 points: A)
→ I haven't been able to do it every week. But I was able to keep the thought "It's Sunday night, so I should clean" in the back of my mind, so I want to continue this next year and beyond.
6-7. Send messages on friends' birthdays (57 points: D)
→ Honestly, I hardly did it at all. Unfortunately, a failing grade.
6-8. Visit art galleries and museums (30 points: D)
→ This was also almost never achieved.
(7) Be mindful of getting good rest (Rest Awareness)
7-1. Do daily strength training to maintain a body that doesn't tire easily (45 points: D)
→ I only did squats occasionally. I couldn't do anything that could really be called strength training. I definitely want to do strength training next year, if only to maintain my physique.
7-2. Do 3 minutes of silent meditation daily (65 points: C)
→ I only did this occasionally when I remembered. I couldn't practice it every day.
7-3. Burn incense before going to bed (95 points: S)
→ Lately, I've been burning incense almost every night before stretching and going to sleep. Perfect!
7-4. Get out of bed and bathe in the morning sun by 8:00 AM (75 points: B)
→ Since the summer, there have been days when I worked until late at night and woke up late. I also tend to forget to bathe in the morning sun. There are days when I just start working as soon as I wake up.
7-5. Stretch before bed and upon waking up (80 points: A)
→ I didn't do it every day, but I managed to do it almost every night. The routine of burning incense and stretching before bed is perfect. When I wake up, I tend to slack off if I wake up late. Ultimately, it seems I could achieve this if I just wake up earlier.
7-6. Do not open the computer after 11:00 PM (72 points: B)
→ Since the summer, I've been staying up late more often. Although I have my room's LED lights set to turn off automatically at 11:00 PM, there are times when I resume working after that. I want to be more conscious of the habit of not opening my computer after 11:00 PM.
7-7. Secure one afternoon off per week (68 points: C)
→ I almost never achieved this. However, there were days when I would suddenly remember and think, 'I need to take the afternoon off!' and take a break. I want to get better at taking time off, too.
7-8. Take a completely off consecutive holiday in odd-numbered months for pure travel (67 points: C)
→ I wasn't able to create many holidays that could be called completely off. Only about as many times as I traveled with my wife during consecutive holidays. This remains a challenge for next year and beyond.
(8) Healthy eating habits (Dietary Habits)
8-1. Do not eat breakfast / eat only a small amount if I do (93 points: S)
→ This was a habit I already had, so I cleared it without any issues!
8-2. Limit alcohol to 3 drinks per day even at social events (92 points: S)
→ I cleared this without any issues as well. I don't really have drinking parties to begin with, but I was able to be conscious of keeping it to 3 drinks on the rare occasions I do drink.
8-3. Do not buy snack foods or sweet breads (76 points: B)
→ I sometimes find myself reaching for sweet breads or snacks while traveling. I tend to rely on them, especially when traveling by Shinkansen. I want to be careful about this.
8-4. Create days to practice autophagy( 90 points : S )
→ This was also cleared without any issues. Although I haven't set a specific day, I manage to have an autophagy day about once a week.
8-5. Do not go to ramen shops alone( 86 points : A )
→ I have gone to a ramen shop alone a few times. I gave in to temptation. However, I have basically been able to keep this rule.
8-6. Chew food well / 20 chews per bite( 67 points : C )
→ I was conscious of this for the first three months or so, but I have completely forgotten about it recently. I want to be more mindful of this.
8-7. Drink 2L of water per day( 91 points : S )
→ I'm not sure if I drank exactly 2L, but since I drink about 2-3 servings daily using an 800ml drip kettle, I think I've cleared this.
8-8. Junk food limited to twice a month( 73 points : B )
→ There were months where I exceeded two times. I gave it a lower score to reflect that I need to be more self-reflective.
Summary: I will summarize my resolutions for age 34 tomorrow!
So, that was my review of the execution level of the "Goal Achievement Mandala Chart" I created on my 33rd birthday.
In terms of GPA, it came out to a fairly average score of 2.30, but my honest feeling is that“I spent my days feeling very fulfilled.”
I turn 34 tomorrow.
I feel like the phase of my life has changed, so I'll take my time to summarize my "resolutions" tomorrow so I can make it an even more fulfilling year!
See you later!
