To the me who thought, 'I can't write because no one is reading'
Hello, this is Rurikakesu.
The other day, I went to the supermarket quite early in the morning.
Since it was shortly after opening, there were only a few customers.
The store was quiet, and the staff were arranging vegetables and restocking side dishes.
Watching that, I had a thought.
'There are few customers, so let's stop opening the store today.'
What if there were a supermarket like that? Surely, no one would come.
When I first started sharing content,
There were few people reading. Maybe I should write articles after studying a bit more.
I often thought about things like that.
After the number of readers increases and I gain confidence in my knowledge,
After I become able to write better, after I properly gain confidence...
I often thought that way.
But if you think about that in terms of a supermarket, it's a bit strange, isn't it?
'Since there are few customers today, I will keep the store closed.'
If you keep doing that,
you will never have people
find out your shop exists.
You don't open a shop after customers arrive;
customers arrive because you are open.
I think sharing information is the same.
I understand that in my head, though.
But when you get to be around fifty,
before starting something new,
you tend to want to make your preparations perfect.
I don't want to fail,
and I don't want to feel embarrassed,
'Once I have a little more confidence'
that feeling becomes stronger.
At least, that was the case for me.
But lately,
a day where I feel perfectly confident,
probably won't ever come.
I've come to be able to think that way.
No matter how long you wait,
the green light for yourself rarely comes.
Write, even while lacking confidence.
Acquire knowledge while you write.
That might be just about right.
In my case,
I have an even more troublesome personality.
I do try writing articles. But,
'My writing has no value to anyone,'
'If possible, I don't want it to be read.'
I even thought things like that (lol).
I wrote it, yet
I didn't want it to be found.
So, what did I write it for, I wonder.
Even thinking about it now,
what kind of state of mind I was in
is a mystery even to me.
But, gradually,
I've come to be able to think,
like a normal person, that I 'want people to read it'.
When you get to be around fifty,
I feel like you become better at finding reasons not to start
than at starting something.
It's too late now.
Maybe it's already too late.
I should prepare more first.
These are all words I often thought about. If the me of one year from now looks back,
I feel like I'll think,
'I wish I had started a little sooner.'
I'll probably think that.
That is why,
I intend to keep writing articles today with the feeling of opening up shop.
Since I have started to think that I would like to be read, just like anyone else,
I have come to realize that
if there is even one person who reads it,
reaching that one person is enough.
I believe that building on that,
will eventually lead to a connection with someone.
If you, too,
'Who am I to be sharing my thoughts...'
If you are thinking that,
why not open a small shop today?
It doesn't have to be a grand shop.
It's fine if it's just like a small stall
with few customers yet.
It doesn't have to be a popular store.
It's okay if only one customer comes.
What's important is
to open the shutters again today.
Building on that
'That shop is open again.'
That sense of security
might be what brings people together little by little.
If you don't open the shop,
there is no way for anyone to find you,
but if you just keep it open,
someone might just
drop by unexpectedly (^^
P.S.
In the book,
I share things I've felt since turning fifty,
and things I've realized while
creating an income from home.
'I want to start something. But I can't
quite take that first step.'
If you feel that way, it's free, so
please do take a read ✨
