How I stopped getting discouraged by listening to the numbers
Good evening 🌙 I'm Ru-Nurse 😊
Those of you reading my articles
are surely thinking about monetization on note.
Everyone,
do you properly look at
the numbers of the articles you've written?
Previously in this article,
I wrote about how
the numbers when you've just started
are not yet at a stage where they can be used for judgment
.
Many people who can't keep up with note
the numbers aren't growing
there's little reaction
there are no sales
by looking at those results,
and within the structure of
turning them directly into an evaluation of your own worth or talent
,
your heart gradually breaks.
At the stage where you've just started,
views, likes, and sales
hardly serve as correct material for judgment.
And yet, people
end up looking at the numbers.
And,
"Not growing = failure"
"No reaction = not cut out for this"
Like that,
even though I didn't know anything yet,
I would label myself.
That is why, in my previous article, I wrote about
the structure where seeing numbers causes you to lose heart without realizing it
.
But that does not mean
"I want you to stop looking at numbers."
"Not looking at numbers"and
"turning a blind eye to numbers"are different.
When you turn a blind eye to numbers,
you end up blaming yourself based solely on emotion,
without any data to make a judgment.
Today,
I will talk about how
I stopped turning a blind eye to numbers and stopped getting discouraged.
To be honest,
the old me was not looking.
Because it was scary,
and it was a hassle.
I feel down when I look at the numbers.
So, I don't look at them.
I only look and rejoice when they go up,
and when they stop growing, I worry again.
I have been repeating this cycle for a long time.
Instead of looking at the numbers, what I was doing was
blaming myself.
blaming myself.
"This article was no good."
"I have no sense for this."
"Maybe I've reached my limit."
In reality, I wasn't even looking at the data
to judge what was wrong.
I wasn't even looking at the material to judge what was wrong.
A long time ago, when I was receiving individual consulting,
I was told something like this.
"You need to analyze things properly."
At that time,
honestly, I didn't understand what that meant at all.
I thought analysis was something smart people did,
and I thought it was a cold, emotionless task.
More than that,
"It's all about motivation and volume!"
I used to charge ahead with that kind of baseless confidence. Haha.
But I understand now.
Analysis isn't something
only smart people do.
It's something you do to protect yourself
if you want to keep going..
For example,
An article with many views but few likes.
That is proof that it caught many people's eyes.
An article with few views but many likes.
That is proof that it really resonated with someone.
An article with many comments.
That is proof that it stirred emotions.
None of these are failures.
The old me
didn't try to see these meanings,
and just kept looking at my emotions the whole time.
I feel like I'm not growing.
I feel like there's no reaction.
I feel like it's just not meant for me after all.
It's all
just a feeling.
Ever since I started looking at the numbers,
I've stopped thinking,
“Maybe I'm done for...” and wanting to give up.
That's because I've learned to think in terms of facts,
not emotions.
Back when I turned a blind eye to the numbers,
I gave up many times.
But now,
instead of feeling down,
“Oh, this didn't really resonate,”
“Then I'll try this next time,”
I've actually started to enjoy seeing how people react to my articles✨
Numbers are honest.
They are the voice of the reader.
They are the natural reaction of the reader.
Unless you look at the numbers,
why it didn't grow
why this article grew
why this article sold
you cannot know the reason for that.
Finally
Numbers are not meant to be used to blame yourself.
They are the
answers that tell you what that article conveyed.
If you are currently feeling,
'I'm working hard, but I don't know what to do,'
and you feel that way,
it's not a lack of effort.
You might just be blaming yourself alone,
without looking at the numbers.
I understand that you should look at the numbers, but
then, in practice, I don't know what or how I should be looking at them.
I think some of you may feel that way.
At first, I also
looked at the numbers but
would get stuck at, "So, how am I supposed to judge this in the end?"
and stop there.
The numbers are lined up, but
I can't move forward from there.
Even though I'm looking at them,
I can't make a decision.
That's the feeling.
This state
doesn't mean you lack analysis,
nor does it mean your comprehension is low.
It's just that
the foundation for making a judgment isn't ready yet
—that's all it is.
Before deciding how to look at the numbers,
the first thing you need to think about is:
"Am I currently at a stage where I should move forward,
or am I at a stage where I should pause for a moment?"
In my pinned post, I write about
a way of thinking to calmly organize the stage before making this judgment.
"What am I struggling with right now?"
"Where am I getting stuck?"
This is a place to put those thoughts into words.
If you are looking at the numbers but your confusion won't go away, please try reading this article😊
Thank you very much for reading until the end✨
