The story of how I sold 90% of my silver after reducing my closet by 5%

I wrote about how to buy the other day and it was well-received🙌

This time, it's a story about how to sell🤭 I act as a

Mercari shop owner (a pseudonym I haven't told anyone/shared), and depending on the item, I let go of brand-name goods at pawn shops (recently
Komehyo)🥹 ← A slightly sad farewell

My biggest goal this year is to declare that I will become a minimalist❕️ I am
walking the talk and steadily letting go of my brand-name items👋

Books and clothing are also listed, but by far, the items that sell better and have a
higher unit price are the
accessories and bags I no longer use💎👜

The highest price ever I sold for at a pawn shop was... a
ROLEX watch. I used it for nearly 20 years and it sold for
1.1 times the price💴

It's not often that you can make a profit while letting go like this, but...

Accessories that I bought nearly 25 years ago, used for about 15 years, and haven't used for a while are

a waste of treasure, so there's no point in keeping them, right!?

The only things I want to pass on to my daughter are the mother-in-law's inherited pearl
brand new necklace & earrings. As for my own things, our tastes and preferences are probably different, and she might not see the value in them. I keep items that I use significantly less frequently listed for sale and occasionally adjust the prices💹⚖

Basically, I think it's because I only owned so-called brand-name accessories to begin with.

Tiffany and other well-known brands are things I imagine people bought because they wanted to wear them or bought them with the intention of selling them to someone else later😌❦

If someone else can make use of the things I no longer use, then I guess that's fine.

I have pawn shops check the fair market price, then I add a markup and raise it to a price that I find reasonable and am willing to sell for. (For items like silver, which are inexpensive among jewelry, pawn shops try to lowball you, so I don't sell to them, haha & I'm firm😤)

I used to have a lot of Tiffany items🩵 I bought them one by one on trips to Hawaii or NY, or as a retirement gift from my first job🇺🇸 and have cherished them🌎️📿

However, the ones I use now are my wedding ring & engagement ring💍, a pendant, and earrings, all of which are
platinum and, depending on the item, only products that contain
diamonds💎. I cherish them❦ I've kept enough to enjoy changing them daily (actually, I'm using them now😍)

Therefore,silver is difficult to care for, and unlike platinum, I can no longer get it cleaned for free even if I take it to a TIFFANY store.
= I don't use it, and I don't need it anymore 🙅‍♀️

completely sold off all of my silver products 👛✨️✌
Actually, as for silver products, I have already sold 100% of them.

What I sold was...
Various bangles and matching rings, etc.

They sold for much higher than at a pawn shop 💴💰️🙆‍♀️

And regarding the shipping method when they sold,
surely you'd be worried about using regular mail, right!?

I tried using mail with tracking, but
when I sold the very last item, I realized a bit late what the
best shipping method was, so late 😅

You have to buy a special envelope,
but it's only 20 yen and the
shipping fee is 160 yen (tax-included amount as of 2026/07/17).
I hope you check the official website for the various conditions,
but it seems to come with a certain level of peace of mind, so
I regret not using this from the start 💧
