Feeling depressed from the fatigue of a new life... I tried mugwort steaming as a warming care
Hello, this is Zawazawa Mama.
My adjustment disorder should have been under control, but—
In April, my life changed completely with my daughter starting elementary school🌸
With the irregular schedule,
double drop-offs with daycare, and parent-teacher meetings...
I was fine on the weekend, but suddenly I hitmaximum fatigue😇
And then, the signs of my mental state dropping started to creep in👇
・I can't watch the dramas I'm supposed to love📺
・It's hard to wake up in the morning
・I can't move at night even though there's housework left
・I'm sleepy again even though I took a nap
・I'm making mistakes at my part-time job that I wouldn't normally make
From my past experience, I can sort of tell,
“This is a bad sign.”
🌿For now, I want to “warm up”
As for hot yoga, which worked best for me before...
The schedule doesn't fit between work.
And before I knew it, I hadn't been in 3 months😇
So I looked for other heat therapies,
and what I remembered was
“mugwort steaming,” which I had been curious about for a while.
♨️I tried mugwort steaming
I searched for availability on Hot Pepper Beauty and made a reservation.
“Mugwort steaming” is actually
👉You let the steam in through your buttocks and vagina!
In addition to just mugwort, I chose from 10 types of herbs
based on my scent preference and benefits at the time.
According to the staff, it's a “waterfall sweat blend”🌿
The herbs I chose were👇
🌿Lemon balm... has the effect of calming irritation, anxiety, and tension, and caring for mental distress caused by stress
🌿Chicory root... stress relief and relaxation effects
🌿Ginger... warms the body and improves blood circulation
🌿Moringa... anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects to reduce stress and inflammation
They also brewed me herbal tea,
so I'm taking it in from the scent and from inside my body too☕
🧖♀️Time to get steamed
I put on a thick poncho,
wrapped a towel around my neck, and started.
A pot is simmering under my bottom.
The heat is gradually rising🔥
While changing my posture in various ways
・Sitting with knees pulled up
・Sitting cross-legged
・Moving back and forth
By the end, I was already
👉Standing up and escaping, saying "It's hot...!"😂
While looking at my phone or
listening to the conversation of the mom group in the next room
an hour passed in the blink of an eye.
At first, cold air was coming in through the gaps in the poncho
and I felt that my body was "chilled..."
but by the time it was over, I had a gentle sweat + my shoulders felt refreshed✨
I drank plenty of water and finished.
🤔Honest review
…So, to be honest
I preferred hot yoga because I can sweat more,
and it also serves as stretching and muscle training.
Also, the sitting-only posture is tough😇
As for the crucial feeling of depression
👉It certainly improved a little
But since my schedule has also calmed down,
it's honestly difficult to say for sure
that it was "thanks to the mugwort steaming!"🤔
🌱Things I still thought
It seems many people feel the effects of mugwort steaming after continuing it for a few sessions,
👉 Home-use mugwort steaming pads might also be an option
It's also good for when you find it exhausting to make a reservation and go to a shop.
I learned for the first time that there is research suggesting even herbal tea can be effective for mild depression if you keep drinking it,
so
I thought it might be a good idea to keep some on hand as a safety net.
I would like to try it in the future.
🌸 I underestimated the new life
In April, moms have so much to worry about, including taking care of the children.
I hope you can relax at least a little bit during Golden Week 🌿
