Sabae, the City of Glasses: Where Is It?
Hello, I'm Fukuko. In my last article, I wrote that over 90% of Japanese-made glasses are produced in Sabae City. However, I thought some of you might be thinking, “Oh, I see, but where exactly is Sabae?” So, I'm going to give you a rough and casual overview.

A bit more detail.

It's surprisingly compact, but it's number one in Japan for glasses production. The rice is delicious, too.
As for the story of how it became a production hub for glasses... I don't need to explain that myself, as the wonderful local shop, Megane Museum, explains it very clearly and thoroughly! (I'm dodging the question, aren't I?)
Glasses are made by combining various parts.
Sabae uses a division of labor production system, where specialized companies for each part are scattered throughout Sabae City, making the entire city feel like one high-quality factory.
Because there are so many small and medium-sized enterprises, it's said that there are a lot of company presidents relative to the population. It's actually true. If you call out, “Hey, President!” in a bar, even if you're just being flattering, you're usually right.
Sabae is great, isn't it!
This time, I used various materials and data to bring you this article about where Sabae is located. Thank you very much! ^^!
↓ Bonus

You'll find this on the road entering Sabae City.

A regular vending machine covered in glasses.

The parking lot at the Megane Museum shop is also shaped like glasses.
Phew, the reporting was fun lol. I'm glad the weather was nice!
Thank you very much!
