Things I want to do, work, and such 📑🖋
Good evening, this is MARU.
The title sounds a bit naive, but the content is down-to-earth (lol).
I wrote this because I wanted to organize my thoughts about work. I would be happy if you could stick with me until the end.
Introduction
I have been struggling quite a bit with work.
To put it roughly, the combination of work delays due to the pandemic, poor company performance, a lack of fulfillment, and low pay has made me lose confidence in continuing. By the way, I am a medical professional...
So, am I going to change jobs?
However, I have to work to make a living, and working while feeling unresolved isn't good for my mental health. Instead of moping around, I decided to consult a professional.
So, I had an interview with a career change agent.
To give you the conclusion, even as someone in their late 30s with no experience, I was introduced to several jobs. However, the content made me hold my head in my hands, thinking, "Is this really something I want to do more than what I'm doing now?"
What even is "something I want to do"?
It's not about work, but I had done some self-analysis regarding my hobbies.
According to that, since I was a child, I have been the type whodoesn't feel any pain in calmly continuing to do tasks with fixed procedures like a monk in training.was.
That's why silentlydrawing pictures suited me.Actually, when I tried it on my iPad, I was able to do it reasonably well.
Just because of that, I don't naively think, "Let's make art my job!"Actually, when I was in high school, I attended a drawing class aiming for art university, but I gave up on pursuing it because I was bad at free-choice assignments and thought I had no talent.By the way, I liked drawing.
In addition, in an era where illustrations can be generated by AI,unless you love it enough to do it anyway,I thought it wasn't an industry to aim for at this late stage.
Rather than that,I looked for a job that has demand, growth potential, allows me to utilize my drawing skills, and lets me work steadily. And I wanted something that wouldn't be affected by the pandemic,a job that can be completed to some extent online.
Interview at a web-related school → Enrollment
Anyway, I can't do anything without experience. So, I applied for interviews at several web-related schools that are strong in career changes.
And, I decided to proceed with a web designer course at one of the schools‼️
The reason why that happened is becauseI had experience creating websites as a hobby.I failed at self-taught coding, but I was able to create them using software, so I thought it would be possible if I learned properly.
In addition, when I showed my own drawings to the instructor, being able to create illustrations yourself for site creation is a strengthand, being able to draw meansthat you can naturally handle overall composition, and it seems unlikely that you will create things with strange balance.was the explanation.
Also, even in a world where there will continue to be demand and websites can be easily created with WordPress, requests for creation from companies will never disappear.was what they said.
There might have been some sales talk involved, but it felt like a path worth pursuing. Or rather, it was better to take action than to keep worrying while doing nothing 💦
However, there are also practical realities.
The fact that changing jobs to a full-time position is impossible given my age.
If I am to go down this path, they clearly told me there are only two options: ① Keep my current job while doing a side hustle to build up a track record or ② Switch my current job to a part-time or temporary position in the web industry, and work on a side hustle to secure additional income. I decided to choose ①. I will build a track record through my side hustle, and once I see a prospect of being able to make a living, I will go freelance. That is the plan.
I decided to choose ①. I will build a track record through my side hustle, and once I see a prospect of being able to make a living, I will go freelance. That is the plan.
First, my goal is to recover the tuition fees through my side hustle.
If I can change jobs, that would be even better.
Conclusion
And so, I've decided to start something new‼️
(Lately, when there's something I want to try or something I feel envious of, I've decided to try it first instead of saying it's impossible for me. Honestly, I'm embarrassed and anxious about whether I can make it work. My life has been full of failures, and I'm a timid person, after all).
Classes start next month. There will be lots of assignments, so it's going to be busy. Regardless, I won't give up, and my first goal is to complete the course. I would be happy if you could support me! I'll report on my progress from time to time (*^^*)
Also, I plan to secretly create an industry-specific SNS account separate from this one 🫣💖
Thank you for reading until the end 😊 I would also be happy if you could hit the like button (∩´∀`∩)💕
