Novels Created by Essayists [note Creator Introduction - Extra Edition (3)]
Hello, I'm Aruron, who has awakened to the joy of writing novels thanks to the Creative Awards.
At the same time, I've realized how difficult it is to write, so novelists are amazing.
Now, this is the third installment of the [note Creator Introduction] Extra Edition (Creative Awards Edition).
This time, I'm changing things up from before and would like to introduce the novel category.
There are some works by people I've introduced in the past, but that doesn't matter.
So, without further ado, let's get to the introductions.
*Since this is an extra edition, I won't be giving out any nicknames. Please understand.
"Dreams, Eels, and Omelet Rice" / Megumi Hanamaru
First, from the fantasy novel category, "Dreams, Eels, and Omelet Rice." The author is Extra Edition (2) introduced Megumi Hanamaru.
Shunta, a high school student, leaves home after clashing with his father and brother, and ends up spending his summer vacation with his uncle (his father's younger brother), Koichi.
It's a juvenile modern fantasy that depicts Shunta having mysterious experiences while living with his uncle.
As the title suggests, it's a work that became a hot topic for featuring many delicious-looking foods and drinks like eel and omelet rice, but Megumi Hanamaru's talent was also shown in other areas. That is the big point I wanted to introduce this time.
That point is the "inferiority complex held by the protagonist."
Shunta comes from a family of dentists; his paternal grandfather (deceased) and father, Taichi, are dentists, and his older brother, Keita, is a ronin student aiming to become a dentist.
The grandfather and father always doted on the excellent older brother, while Shunta was neglected growing up. That grabbed my heart. As someone who has siblings, I have had similar experiences to no small extent.
The character portrayal in this work is incredibly realistic. There is an exquisite reality to it, as if the human emotions drifting slowly are flowing into you. That's why I empathized with Shunta, was saved by Koichi's words and actions, and in the end, was able to understand his father and brother as well.
As if to accompany the changes in Shunta's heart, the aforementioned gourmet items color the work. It is guaranteed to make you hungry when you read it.
It's a high school boy's coming-of-age story that is different from the comical nature of her essays. It's perfect for a summer vacation book report assignment.
"Pleaser" / Mimi
Next, from the mystery novel category, "Pleaser." The author is the [Literary Master of Vigilance] 5th installment introduced Mimi.
Single mother Mamiko marries Katsuo Inui, whom she met at a matchmaking party, and moves to Katsuo's hometown, Neko Town, with her daughter, Ami.
However, the Inui family and Neko Town have a certain secret, and it is a horror-tinged mystery where that secret is gradually revealed.
The point of this work could be called the "satisfaction of getting the answers."
Reading the synopsis, I first noticed that the proper nouns held clues. As I read on, I realized there was a common thread in the characters' names. Then, the intentions of the main characters and the reality of the Neko-cho festival were revealed, and I thought, 'Ah, so that's what it was.'
Even though I was on the edge of my seat (I'm not good with horror), the images appeared vividly in my mind, and I couldn't stop turning the pages. Despite the chilling story, the feeling after reading it was somehow refreshing and pleasant.
Mimi-san is someone who writes very heartwarming essays. While I was surprised by the gap between this and her essays, I felt I caught a glimpse of Mimi-san's kindness in the way the story was wrapped up.
Reading this made me like mystery novels even more, and I wanted to try writing one myself.
"The Fumikyo-yohi Method" / Yasu (Yasushi Ueda)
Finally, from the workplace novel category, "The Fumikyo-yohi Method". The author is Yasu (Yasushi Ueda), making his first appearance in the note creator introduction series.
Kato, who has become a judge for the memo company's "Writing Grand Prize" contest, proceeds with the judging alongside other eccentric judges, and in the process, meets a female ghost that only he can see. It is a workplace novel from the perspective of a contest judge, woven together by unique characters and writing methods.
The key point of this work is, above all, the "proposition of 'how to write'".
It goes without saying that it is based on the note Creative Grand Prize, but the novel idea of "submitting a novel based on the note Creative Grand Prize to the note Creative Grand Prize" is brilliant.
The taste, reminiscent of the Jump manga "Bakuman.", gives a strange sense of conviction that "judging for the Creative Grand Prize must actually feel like this." That is likely because the "how to write" methods that Yasu-san has built up are quite persuasive. It is a work that could only be written by Yasu-san, who has written more and loves writing more than anyone else. No, perhaps it is something only Yasu-san could write.
Also, I felt a commitment to the proper nouns, starting with "memo company" and "Writing Grand Prize." I think this kind of wordplay is an important point that attracts readers, so I can only say it is masterful.
I felt I had found a new light in the workplace novel genre, where persuasiveness is essential.
So, those were the three people and their three works!
Man, everyone is just amazing!
I read all of them after the submission period ended, but it really made me want to write. It made me think, 'I want to write an interesting story too!'
All three of them also write wonderful essays, and I am learning from them every day. I might not be at a level where I can compete with them yet, but I intend to keep running recklessly, chasing their distant backs. Thank you for the wonderful works!
Thank you for reading to the end this time as well! This was Arlon!

[Aside] Just in case there is a slight possibility that someone might be interested in my work, I will post the links here.
