[Izayoi Cup] Three haiku under the starry night.
Cypress tree, at the very top, my starry night

Van Gogh's "The Starry Night" (free image).
The kigo 'starry night' was inspired by an article from Yuzu, who sent me this lovely haiku: "Choosing a clumsy life, a starry night" 🔻
She wrote it using my favorite kigo, 'starry night'.
Thank you so much, Yuzu, for the wonderful haiku and for your warmth that seems to see right through my clumsiness and embrace it all. 🥺💖
…
A starry night, bright enough with just starlight even without the moon.
Countless stars are scattered there.
It's okay if it's small.
Is my own star there, I wonder?
The cypress tree that looks like it could reach the heavens, just like in Van Gogh's painting.
If I climbed it, could I reach the sky?
Even if for Van Gogh those stars meant death, no matter how small or barely visible their glow,
to me, they are precious lights.
At the top of that obelisk-like tree,
if I sit down, it becomes my very own starry night.
I hear your song, an auditory hallucination after the moon
Sitting at the top of the cypress tree.
Is it the song of the stars,
or the voice of the moon that is now hidden?
Or perhaps something else entirely.
It might have been an auditory hallucination.
But I felt like I heard it from somewhere.
The gentle voice I've heard before turned into the wind,
and while playing in concert with the rustling cypress leaves, it raced up into the night sky.
I felt as if the cypress tree was swaying happily.
On the way home, the faint scent of sweet olive swayed in the starlight.
Sweet olive, a star falls plop into my palm
Petals like tiny, tiny stars
dance down into my hand.
This is the path I once walked holding your hand.
Our paths have passed each other by.
But the faint scent of the sweet olive tells me
that the time we crossed was necessary, inevitable, and precious.
Like a precious treasure, I gently wrapped the glowing star fragment
in my palm,
and tucked it away deep, deep inside my heart.
I cannot thank you enough, yet I cannot put it into words.
Even so, I am proud.
That I was able to meet you.
One of the far, far away, faintly shining stars,
I felt as if it twinkled at me.
Cypress trees, at the very top, my starry night
I hear your song, an auditory hallucination, the moon after the full moon
Fragrant olive, falling into my palm, a star drops

🔻Judge Naeko Shichida's spin-off project "Haiku de Pon" has started❗️Why not connect everyone's haiku and create derivative works(short stories, poems, illustrations, manga, etc.)? Please try to give shape to what you love😊💕
Wait, I've already connected a story with my own haiku... I was planning to do this from the beginning, and it wasn't based on a story, but added later. There is a moon after the full moon in a starry night without a moon, but please don't worry too much about that|・ω・)
…..
Bonus.
It's October from today, Halloween is approaching, isn't it🎃
