So, let's start with a haiku from a song.
"Tsuki ni Hoeru" (Howling at the Moon) by Yorushika
I have previously created haiku, tanka, and short stories based on Yorushika's "Hana ni Bourei" (Ghost in a Flower), and they are one of the artists I truly respect.
"Tsuki ni Hoeru," which briefly came up as a candidate when deciding the catchphrase for the Izayoi Cup, is a song that pays homage to the poetry collection of the same name by Sakutaro Hagiwara.
Yorushika itself is a band that was formed out of a desire to incorporate literary elements into music. This aspect is also shared by Kenshi Yonezu's "Campanella," which is based on "Night on the Galactic Railroad."
Yorushika also has other songs that pay homage to works like "Kaze no Matasaburo" and "The Old Man and the Sea," each brilliantly creating its own world. I hope you will experience this fusion of literature and music without any preconceived notions just because they are a modern artist.
The wild beast within me
Shatter everything in this world of moonlight
Tsukikage (moonlight) refers to the light of the moon.
If you listen to the lyrics as they are, this is the general sense of the content.
An impulse that cannot be contained within oneself, a conflict between wanting to suppress one's self and wanting to release it. This is expressed as a beast, becoming a shadow that rages in the moonlight. This is also metaphorically represented in the somewhat extreme lyrics, 'I want to crush the earth with an ice pick and fill it with this malice.'
The impulse to unleash and the conflict to suppress.
Both are me, and both are proof that I am here.
Show that I am here, the moon in my heart
